Kris Aquino admits having special feelings for Mayor Junjun Binay
By ALEX VALENTIN BROSAS
July 31, 2010, 2:38pm
Of the many guys, eligible or otherwise, that she has been romantically linked to lately, Kris Aquino admits she's closest to Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.
After announcing her separation from cager James Yap, a plethora of noted personalities were alleged to have a special relationship with the controversial TV host-actress. Among these were Senator Chiz Escudero, indie prince Coco Martin, young action-drama prince Gerald Anderson, former matinee idol Gabby Concepcion, and Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay.
Kris, in her tell-all interview on “Showbiz News Ngayon” aired July 30, bravely answered all the controversies hounding her love life.
“Among everybody na nili-link sa akin, he’s (Junjun) the only one I’ve really been communicating with. Kaklaruhin ko po, hindi siya nanliligaw sa akin. Pero matalik ko siyang kaibigan,” Kris said.
“Nakilala ko siya when I was losing my mother. Nakilala niya ako when he lost his wife. In the span of that one year, both our lives have changed so much.
“He’s been good to me, a true friend. Kung tatanungin n’yo ako, nasa kanya ‘yong mga qualities that I admire in a man. I’d say 'yes.' Why? Dahil alam ko na hindi niya ako lolokohin.”
Kris showed so much concern for Mayor Binay.
"‘Wag n’yo ho i-torture ang buhay niya. Ayokong maitsismis siya ng wala sa lugar. Kaya lang...kinaklaro ko lang, that he knows and I know that now is not the right time. If all we’ll ever be is friends, fabulous kasi loyal siya at mabait siya talaga.
"Kawawa naman si Vice President Binay at ang buong angkan nila kung masasali sila sa teleserye ng buhay ko. Pero, kung dadating ang panahon at maayos na ang lahat at maramdaman niya na 'kaya ko, kaya ko itong harapin lahat,' why not? He’s eligible."
Seeing interviewer Boy Abunda look shocked by her revelation, Kris told him, “No, you don’t get it. Namumutla ka, e.”
“Pinaalam ko ito sa kanya. Before I came home, I said, 'I know I’ll be asked about you, and this is what I’m gonna say and I hope it’s okay with you.' At ang sinabi niya sa akin, 'I know you’ll protect me. Whatever it is that I can do to be of help, gagawin ko para sa ‘yo.' Ano pa ba ang hihingin mo?”
“Matagal pa ‘yan. Sabihan mo (Boy) rin siyang (Junjun) matagal pa. Wait ka lang, ha?”
Spilling the beans on Coco, Kimerald
The “Kris Aquino Confessions: An SNN Special” continued its probe on the other men who are said to be making the TV host's eyes sparkle these days.
On Coco Martin, Kris said: “Kami ni Coco, hindi talaga kami nagkasundo noong umpisa. Nagkabuwisitan kami. Nabuwisit siya sa akin, nabuwisit ako sa kanya.
"And then the campaign started, and I saw how devoted he was to 'Noy.' He filmed the movie. He went all out sa campaign. Napamahal siya sa buong pamilya. So, he’s really a friend now."
Kris then dropped a bomb about Coco, which she said has his permission.
“We were close enough for me to know na pinopormahan niya si Erich. Sorry...maloka na kayong lahat, pero alam ni Coco ‘yan. Nagpaalam ako kay Coco na sasabihin ko ‘yon para tapos na."
Kris wailed hard and long when Gerald Anderson’s name was mentioned.
“Utang na loob!” she exclaimed. “Doon ako talaga napa-'Ano?' Talagang 'No!'”
She looks at Gerald as if he's her young brother and his screen partner, Kim Chiu, her young sister.
“But you know, si Kim at si Gerald, I also know, hindi naman ako ganoon ka-clueless kasi nag-text si Kim sa akin while I was abroad. Hingahan ako ng sama ng loob noon. Alam ko na may mga problema sila at alam ko na maraming iniintriga sa kanila ngayon.
“Ang sasabihin ko lang, simple, I love both of them. They’re like my younger brother, my younger sister because we really had a good working relationship.
On Gabo, Binoe, and Chiz
The loquacious TV host protested about being linked to Gabby Concepcion.
“No way! Because, Boy, why? He’s married. I know what it's like, so I will never encourage that.”
On action star Robin Padilla, with whom she had an interesting past, Kris again howled an objection.
“They’re in love. Mariel and Robin are in love, so let them stay in love,” she said.
Robin, in a past interview, said that if he would have himself tattooed again, he would want the image of Kris’ face on his body.
“Utang na loob! Hoy, bawiin mo ‘yan. Mariel ang ilagay mo doon!” Kris said addressing the action star on-cam.
And on her supposed romantic ties with Sen. Chiz Escudero, Kris explained how it might have started.
“Maganda po ang kuwentong ito. Kasi, Boy, ganito. Procalamation ni P-Noy sa Batasan. Sumama ako kay P-Noy paakyat. And then nakita niya si Sen. Chiz at sinabi niya, 'O, Kristina si Chiz.' Sabi ko, “Senator, thank you for all the help.”
"And then I said this – may mga nakarinig, so siguro doon nagsimula hindi ko alam – 'Senator sa 2016, puwede tayong magtambalan, at may slogan na tayo – Chizzy Krissy.' And then he said, 'Game ako d’yan.'”
Kris strongly disputed her rumored affair with Escudero.
“Hindi ko po alam kung saan nanggaling ‘yang balitang ‘yan kasi ‘yan talaga sobrang imbento. He’s married; he has twins. I also know what it’s like na matsismis ang asawa mo, na hindi namamatay ang tsismis. Maawa tayo sa asawa niya. Maawa tayo sa pamilya niya.
"And please maaawa kayo sa akin pati sa mga kapatid ko kasi the last thing I want is to be accused as a homewrecker.”
Her sweet escape
On a lighter note, Kris talked about her three-week vacation with her sons Joshua and Baby James.
“It was really a good vacation for the three of us kasi ‘yon ‘yong time namin talaga na nabawi ko sa kanila lahat no’ng panahon na nawala sa kanila because of the campaign.
“It was good to be semi-anonymous. E kasi marami din mga Pinoy na nagtatrabaho sa Disney. Pero they were really so nice. So, ‘yong cruise namin masaya. ‘Yong Disney World, Boy, I became fit kasi naka-on ‘yong predometer doon sa I-phone ko. So, in a day, nakaka-six to seven miles kami kasi lakad ka ng lakad, at ako, makikita n’yo lahat ng picture ako ‘yong taga-push ng stroller ni Bimby. First time niyang (Baby James) ma-experience na mag-roller coaster."
The TV host is so proud of her youngest son. “Si Bimby, I’m so proud kasi may height requirement, 40 inches. 42 inches na siya. Normally, that 40 inches is para for you to be about five years old. So matangkad talaga ang anak ko. Nakasakay (siya) ng lahat ng roller coaster.”
While on cruise, Kris was able to experience things she had never done in the past, like doing the laundry.
“Pinaglaba ko sila (Joshua and Baby James) noong nasa Disney Cruise kami. ‘Yong mga kasi nag-aayos ng kuwarto they were outside kasi per floor parang may laundry room. Tapos ‘yong mga Pinoy sinabi talaga, 'Ma’am, kayo po ang naglalaba?' Sabi ko, 'Oo, kasi nagsi-swimming ‘yong mga yaya.'"
The cruise provided Kris and her children a world all to themselves. “Lahat kayo nag-worry, pati mga kapatid ko, kasi walang signal talaga.”
It was an experience like no other. “For five nights, you were really taken away from the world. Every night nakapanood kami ng Disney presentation na Broadway quality. Nakapunta kami sa Bahamas na feeling ko naman, Diyos ko, mas maganda naman di hamak ang Boracay!" The trip was like a return to one’s childhood, she said.
“Florida was a wonderful experience kasi I could be a child again through their eyes. Hindi mo iindahin ang init, ‘yong pagod, ‘yong pila kasi ang saya at talagang in heaven ‘yong dalawang anak ko.”
Back in Boston
Kris took a trip down memory lane when she visited Boston, where the Aquinos lived for three years some years ago.
“A terrific homecoming to Boston. Sabi ko nga, I was telling my sisters na, nagte-text ako na I never realized it was this beautiful, na ang suwerte natin that we had those three years to be with our mom and dad na kumpleto tayo...na gano’n kaganda ‘yong lugar.
"Tapos, dumalaw kami doon sa dati kong school, dumaan kami sa church kung saan kami dati nagsisimba, sa bahay namin...nag-picture-taking and all,” Kris shared, relishing her past.
Kris visited the house they once occupied, but she was too shy to ask the new occupants for a look. “Nahiya naman akong kumatok at mag-doorbell. Hindi na ako nag-hello.
“Pumunta kami doon sa favorite restaurant ni P-Noy. Kinunan namin ng picture lahat ng pizza’ng kinain namin, tapos sinabi ko sa kanya, 'O, ikinain ka na lang namin.'”
The Boston visit may have brought back old memories, but Kris said only the good ones.
“Ang halaga na lang noong pagdalaw ngayon [ay] hindi ako malungkot. Kasi alam kong come Sunday, magiging emotional for all of us. Tinatanong ni Pinky, 'Naluha ka?' Sabi ko, 'No.' Kasi na-feel ko na we’re so blessed...na nabigyan nga kami ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng normal na buhay. Kung may halaga ang pagdalaw namin doon, it made me so grateful for my childhood."
Relishing the privacy
Kris purportedly avoided turning on communication gadgets in order for her to fully enjoy her vacation.
“I would have to say that masarap kasi on purpose hindi ako nag-on ng phone. Konti lang sa inyo ang nabigyan ko ng number ko for roaming. I avoided, kasi mahal ang Wi-Fi, between $15 and $25 a day, ‘di hindi ako naka-check ng mga bali-balita tungkol sa sarili ko. In-enjoy lang namin ang isa’t isa."
The bonding between Joshua and Baby James did not change when they were in the US.
“Hindi nagbago from the time we arrived to the time that we left, isa ang pinag-awayan nila sa gabi. Si kuya tatabi, si Bimby iiyak na, 'Kuya out, other Mama ka.' Pinahahanap niya ng ibang nanay ang Kuya niya tapos ano, mag-aaway kaming tatlo...pagsasabihan ko ‘yong isa, pagsasabihan ko [din] yong isa, tapos matutulog na kami.
"Yes, loving sila ‘pag wala ako doon. That’s the one thing I did experience that I was not able to experience here. Sabay kaming matulog, sabay kaming magising. Masarap ‘yon.
"At tiniis ko na obsessed si Bimby sa Cartoon Network. Tuwang-tuwa siya. And he wants to live in Boston. At least ‘yong school ko daw magiging school niya. I think for my kids talaga, it was chance to just really be family without all the attention.”
A sneak peek into life without James
Kris revealed that Yap’s absence in their lives seemed to not have affected her sons at all. She, however, still gave Yap her assistant’s contact number in case he’d want to communicate something.
“James naman is calling Gerbel, kasi binigay ko ‘yong number ni Gerbel tapos nakapag-uusap naman sila.
"Ito na lang siguro ang sasabihin ko: Your children will always take their cue from you. I think kung nakita nilang miserable ako sa bakasyon at nag-iiyak ako, doon nila mafi-feel na there’s something wrong. Pero kung nakita nila na magaan ang pakiramdam ng nanay nila at masaya kami, hindi sila magtatanong, ‘di ba? ‘Yong parang wala silang hinanap kasi siguro naman napunuan ko lahat ‘yon, at talagang sinikap ko."
To show her love for her kids, Kris said she learned to conquer her fears.
“Hindi ako marunong lumangoy, lumangoy ako. Nag-beach kami, nag-boating kami. Takot ako sa dagat. Pero para ‘yong fish-feeding na ‘yon, parang si finding Nemo makita namin, ginawa ko."
She thinks the vacation gave her children a sneak preview of life without Yap.
“If it’s about what we’re going through before we’re leaving, matagal na silang may preview of what has to come. ‘Yong parang nakita naman nila kung ano ang pinagdaanan namin. Hindi naman naging sikreto, and I will admit to all of you na a part of the reason why I said that it was time to really move on [was] because ilang beses nang nakita ni Baby James na nag-aaway, umiiyak ako. And I think that was not healthy. And I think na naiintidihan niya because I always explain."
Did she talk to her child using simple or coated language? Or did she tell her about it straightly?
“Yes. Ako pa. Diretso, sabi ko, 'Bimby, can Mama have a boyfriend?' Sabi ni Bimby, 'Mama, tama na!' Ayun, Boy, gano’n kadiretso. Alam mo kasi, nakita ko doon na dapat ‘wag mong sisiraan ang isa’t isa. Kailangan, parati mong nire-reassure...I always tell him na 'Bimby, kahit na it did not work out for Mama and Papa, he’s always gonna be your Papa.
"'And it’s okay for you to love Papa, but you love Mama more, ha.'”
Pissed over pregnancy prattle
Of all the rumors that surfaced when she left, Kris got the most pissed over the one about her alleged pregnancy.
“Ano ba, Boy? Doon ako naiinis talaga. May i-Phone na ako. Meron ako doon na period tracker na ililista mo doon para alam mo kung kailan ka magkakaroon. Why? Because pinaplano namin ang outfits ko depending on that dahil the last thing you want is on TV, matagusan ka.
“Sorry (na) gano’n na ka-graphic ang sasabihin ko dahil baka sasabihin nila...ma-accuse pa ako of being sexually active, e, hello, parang seven months na kaming hiwalay ng kuwarto bago kami naghiwalay!
“Alam ko at nandoon nakalista, July 18, I had my period while we were in Disney World. It ended when we arrived in Boston. So tigilan n’yo na ako.”
Her manager Deo Endrinal told her about the pregnancy issue.
“Sinabi niya na, 'O, buntis ka daw?' Sabi ko, 'Sino’ng tatay?' Di ba, kasi it’s just nakakabaliw na. ‘Yong parang three weeks ka lang nawala pero ang dami nang inimbento tungkol sa ‘yo. Kasi it’s so untrue. I won’t do that," she said.
Kris then cited her reasons. “Number one, to myself. I could die [if I get pregnant] because I have a pulmonary embolism, ‘di ba? Delikado talaga sa akin magbuntis. Puwede akong mag-bleed to death.
“Pangalawa, hindi handa ang anak ko na magkaroon ng kapatid. Sa pagka-possessive no’ng dalawa, baka kung ano’ng gawin do’n sa baby.”
“Pangatlo, there’s no man that I feel I would want a life with at this point.
“And lastly, bigyan ko naman ng kahihiyan ang pamilya ko, Boy.”
On what Cory would've said
Kris got teary-eyed when the conversation shifted to her departed mom, former President Cory Aquino.
Asked what Cory would have told her now that she’s launching a new game show “Pilipinas Win na Win,” Kris said, "Good luck about tomorrow kasi alam niya that’s what I love the most. And alam niya how much joy ang maibibigay ko sa mga tao. At alam niya that I am at a good place in my life now. Mature enough ako na pahahalagahan ko talaga ‘yan at aalagaan ko kasi napakalaking biyaya nito.
“But this is the first big show that I’ll be launching na wala na ang mommy ko. She was my biggest fan, my biggest cheerleader. And nakabangon ako ng ilang beses, Boy, dahil nandoon ang mom ko,” she said in tears.
Kri’s face lit up when the interview touched on her detractors who were questioning her immediate return to television.
“Wish lang no’ng mga nega. Ha! Ha! Ha! ‘Di ba? Alam mo, Boy, don’t put words into my mouth because I never said that...in the same way kung anu-anong in-accuse nilang pinagsasabi ko dati,” she said.
“Ang sinabi ko po it’s difficult to be in a show where you give opinions because whatever opinions I make will be a reflection on the Preident because he’s my brother, kadugo ko siya...hindi mo maiiwasan ‘yon. Pero I’ve always said I would love to do a game show kasi ‘yon naman, hindi kontrobersiyal.”
Kris admits being lured to the kleiglights anew because she likes having an audience.
“It’s exciting...nakakaadik ang palakpak. Nakakaadik ang hiyaw. Nakakaadik makakuwentuhan ang bawat tao. You know, parang puyat ka, pagod ka...kahit sa kampanya...dalawang oras ang tulog pero ‘pag sinisigaw na 'Kris! Kris!' ganyan...buhay ang energy. I’m excited to have a game again. I miss having games. I miss having contestant."
The challenge does not end there.
“It’s a challenge because I was in my comfort zone. Ikaw lang ang nakatrabaho ko for 10 years, di ba? May mga bago akong pakikisamahan at may mga bagong makikisama sa akin. E, ikaw (Boy) get na get mo na ang ugali ko. E, sila kaya? Good luck!”
