Right now there's no good ALL-IN-ONE Security Utility.. To be protected you have to use several utilities, most of them BLOATWARE.. But I've seen promising results with BitDefender Internet Security 9 though the firewall sucked.. ZoneAlarm is still the best personal firewall out there.. And there's ZoneAlarm Security Suite which I thought was great but was BLOATWARE bloated to the max..

So for spyware/adware you can use Spyware doctor or the free Ad-aware and Spybot.. They can do the job adequately. The bundled anti-spyware/adware in security suites such as Bitdefender, ZOnealarm and Norton don't do as well as the standalone apps.

Anti spyware: SPYWARE DOCTOR, HANDS DOWN! You have to pay for it though. Next is Lavasoft's Ad-aware.
Windows Defender at this point in time is USELESS, USELESS, I say! (Thunder and lightning).

In my experience, So far I go for AVAST or NOD32. Wla nay lain.
