Many people in Manila who saw the film kept calling it "world-class" or "pang Oscar"
Yet the film failed commercially!

naa pani until karon? sayanga oist wala man kaayo gud exposure sa tv like trailer man lang. di prehas uban local films like sa star cinema na ipakita jud pirme.
sayanga pud ane nga movie..it was even praised in the news when i first heard about this movie...
The Philippine market of moviegoers is simply too hard for the Emir producers to crack.
Sure it gained rave reviews as well as lots of directionless/impulsive "Pang Oscar!!!" and "World-class!!!" from some viewers who just could not control themselves, but none of that could save Emir from being a financial disaster!
The last major Pinoy movie flop before Emir was Pacquiao The Movie - it was made for P50,000,000 and it grossed a total of less than $5,000,000.
Now try comparing that to Emir's P70,000,000 budget.
Too bar for Emir, but at least the intention of creating philippine movie history is somehow coming true
What would make Emir "historical" among Pinoy movies? The biggest flop?
i think its nice movie... i think lang kay la man gyud ko kita..
