buy a 40D bro and a good glass. the amount you spend on a 7d would be enough for a 40d body and a really good lens. the body and build of the 30 40 series is good enough for me. started out with a 30D then a 40D. kit lens at first then upgraded to better optics later na. third party lenses like sigma is something i considered also. just my two cents worth ... happy shooting.

used my old 30d and kit zoom lens ...

correct me if i am wrong...sa akong na bantayan ang kalahian sa X0D ug ang XX0D series kay:

XX0D plastic ang body, whereas X0D magnesium alloy.
XX0D lower fps (base of 3fps), X0D higher fps (base of 6fps) which X0D ideal for sports ang bird photography.
XX0D ideal for travel kay lightwieght, X0D heavyweight.

    40D
The Canon 40D can take 6.5 photos per second up to a maximum of 75 JPG images or 17 RAW. In addition to this blazing fast speed, the camera includes a completely updated 9-point autofocus, a fast image processor (to transfer photos to the memory card), Canon's dust control, and the addition of a live view mode on the camera's large 3 inch LCD screen. With a rugged frame and weather-resistant seals and gaskets, the 40D is designed for aggressive use.

    7D
Nothing is really left out of the new 7D: it can rip through 126 JPG images at 8 per second and can instantly lock on to skittish subjects with a new 19-point autofocus. Add an ISO range that goes up to 12800, and a bright, clear 3-inch LCD and you've got a noteworthy camera. But wait: the 7D can also capture Full High Definition (1080p) video clips, and you can autofocus AND adjust exposure settings while capturing video. Photographer / Videographers should definitely give this camera a look.

    agree.

depende mn jd tingale na sa gamit boss...as they said "right tools for the right job"...sa akong opinyon, mogamit ko ug XX0D series kung mo travel ko sa laing lugar or country tungod kay gamay ug gaan. mogamit sad ko ug XX0D series kung mag macro aron ma minimize ang kurug kay gaan ghapon...

aside from that, mo gamit ko ug X0D series kung mag shot ug wedding, sports or nature tungod kay taas ang fps ug ma capture nimo halos tanang actions....

i hope canon will make a dslr nga same size ug weight sa XX0D series, same ug features sa 1D series maski dili FF ok ra na pwede maka gamit ug EF-S lens sad ug higher fps...

i totally agree on this one. i recently acquired a lightweight backup camera a 500D.

ive been ask why get the 500D today rather than the 550D.
500D is super cheap now. i shoot center focus point 99.9% of the time so i dont need the new af points on the 550D. 18vs15mp no biggy, for parties and such coverage we dont need 18mp. not even 10mp. medium setting on the 500D will do just fine. smaller file size. easier to manage. easier to distribute. easier to edit. faster workflow simply saves time. and saves HDD space as well hehe. i dont need 1080p video, 720p is perfect for my needs. i get more video out of a 4gb card. 720p is enough video quality to satisfy 99% of viewers. transferring to mobile format we even reduce the size. transferring for broadcast we reduce the size. editing/rendering take half the time than 1080p. and storage advantage as well.

bottomline, also think of features you never use/need as a consideration in purchasing your perfect camera. though this is harder if you have never owned a dslr and wouldnt know your style of shooting prior to purchase. thats why i still say, when in doubt, buy the BEST possibly the most expensive camera you can afford
