Luisito Espinosa was a boxer who came from humble beginnings to become one of the Philippines' most accomplished boxer.
At a time when Filipino boxers were given little attention, he proudly represented the country. But despite the recognition he attained for himself and his country; he has not received proper justice.
Luisito once fought in South Cotabato to defend his title and was promised $150,000 for the fight.
But the listed promoters of the fight who were the then Governor Larry De Pedro and boxing promoters Rod Nazario, and Lito Mondejar, all failed to ensure that Luisito got paid his proper compensation.
Luisito has filed a case against them, but it has been toiling around for years without any resolution in sight. He's asked numerous people for help such as current President Gloria Macapagal, but no one seems to be listening.
The case is now being handled by Judge Rosario Cruz. For such an obvious case of corruption, it is indeed hard to understand why the judge still has not made a decision regarding this case.
I guess its a lesson for future athletes to never trust politicians. They are there when you are on top, but don't expect them to get your back when you're in need.
If Luisito's voice will not be heard, then maybe they will be forced to listen when its coming from thousands of his countrymen.
