Hi, just wanna ask if it is possible to my the IBM tower type server as a datastore to vmesx?can anyone point me to the right direction please. Just installed the esx3, we don't have a nas yet but we have a spare IBM server that we can use for storage of the files. thanks gurus..

Dunno... Try installing Linux or Unix in that box and share your directory via NFS... You might want to look into FreeNAS as well...

@tjyrna OK ra man ang FreeNAS, although wala pa ko ka-sulay nga grabe kaayo ang load... For SOHO, ok ra...

There are two options, you can install windows server or either Linux (CentOS, FEDORA, SUSE, UBANTU) it depends upon you .
For windows you already have option called HyperV
For linux you can install VMWARE and customized Operating system according to your needs. Installation process can be seen here Linux Help - VMWare For Linux Setup Guide
