The purpose of saints are to set example to God's followers and to do good deeds. Also to spread the Good News of God.

we all know that. But who made the saints ?? who gives them their SAINTHOOD ?? Isnt it the pope ?? tupsy turvy, ey ??

They are made as a good model, so if they are not worthy to become one, then it would be justifiable to demote them. It's the promotion of good deeds that serves the purpose indirectly serving the purpose that is towards GOD.

this is how funny the church is:

- they have saints
- example saint lorenzo ruiz
- when he was alive he was a nobody, died for his faith
- before he became a saint his RANK was that of an ordinary sould, LOWER than the pope
- with whatever criteria the church has, Lorenzo was canonized as a Saint BY THE POPE
- when he became a saint his RANK is now above the pope
- and another thing, saint Christopher was demoted, his sainthood was taken from him - by the pope

.. my question now is, why is it like that ? are the living people, specifically the Pope have more authority than those in heaven ( granting there is a heaven ). crazy.

nope! I do not consider the Pope as someone holy.The Pope is also a human being who could still easily sin.Only the one's in heaven shall have the rights to be called HOLY.
