    Not really excited.
It's a tactical rpg game. And the ability to pause the game and position your squad for a tactical advantage is the best feature for me in DA:O.

There alot of game genres out there. All games should not be console focused (3rd person, first person, racing). That is why most PS3 and Xbox player who played Origins would say it is boring since DAO is best experienced on a PC with a mouse with tactical view (overhead perspective - not 3rd person) since again - it's a tactical rpg game and is not a cup of tea for everybody. The sad thing is most players say it's boring, stale, long, not exciting since they don't like this play style but they forget not every player are too hot with 3rd person action games, first person shooters, racing, or the like.

    @sharkey
Based on the GI article they are hinting of a Mass Effect type of game where you get to play a hero that you can customize not create or import the character you create in Origins. Dragon Age is not for everyone and I hope Bioware doesn't forget where their success is rooted from (Baldur's Gate) and not make Dragon Age a Mass Effect type of game (3rd person action rpg).

@sharkey this is some of the news I read. Dragon Age 2 main character is like Mass Effect's - News and Siteseeing
I love mass effect but I would love for Dragon Age 2 to stick to its roots.

some discussions regarding the "new features" of DA2 and why people (tactical rpg fans who bought DAO because of it being you know tactical) fear Choose Language | BioWare Social Network

I'm sure a balance on the changes can be achieved.

I understand that. While it may be its best feature it's also its worst. Once a player figures out the best strategy (shattering combos) to deal with mobs, it gets repetitive. One would think applying the same technique over and over makes dealing with mobs a breeze, but it doesn't. The game irritatingly requires you to pause nonetheless.

I had to endure all the remaining 'pauses' to finish the game, and that took a long time.

As I said this type of game is not for everyone. Some people love chess while others love basketball. Some people may want to play chess sometimes but always want to play basketball. Some people love both sport and excel in both too. Same with games.

For my case, I love all genre of games. And with Dragon Age Origins it entertains me for hours and hours while forcing my brain to think outside the box every time a battle is waged.

Have you played Dragon Age Origins Awakening? Well they want DA2 to head in that direction. The problem is Awakening sucks. It deviated from the gameplay of Origins. The main concern is fans want the next DA to be based on the engine and gameplay as Origins. Like how Baldur's Gate 2 is to Baldur's Gate. You know what I mean? Fans have spent time to know, learn and love the charaters, mythology, and play style from orgins and now Bioware is planning to trash it all up on the sequel. I believe they are trying to please the non-rpg core fans (console players mostly).

Let BioWare do their job. I'm sure they're having internal debates of their own when it comes to designing the game.

BioWare boss Greg Zeschuk has told VG247 Dragon Age II’s experience will be different, depending on which platform players play on.

With the release of Dragon Age: Origins last November, BioWare handled the PC version, while PS3 and 360 ports were handled by Edge of Reality: all versions of which scored well critically, but fan response suggested PC was the way to go.

Zeschuk jumped to defend the work done with the original, adding the experience on DAII will be different in the controls and experience.

“I would, in a sense,” he told us at Develop, “defend our Dragon Age 1 work, in that I actually like the console limitations, but I think that in Dragon Age 2 we’ve had the opportunity to work from a final platform and kind of design the gameplay to really cater for them.”

“Again, there’ll be differences between the PC version and the console versions,” he continued, “by the simple nature of the input system and the experience.

“I think when people start seeing it in action they’re going to be really impressed with how it looks on all platforms.”

Dragon Age II releases next March for PS3, 360 and PC.

VG247 Blog Archive Dragon Age II experience to be different across all platforms, says Zeschuk

my two cents....and let me start this off by saying...im no fan boy of all rpg out there nor do i limit myself from appreciating what really needs to be appreciated but i admit that monotony is good at times if ones comfort zone relly on this or change is needed to further better things but at times change...well changes things and whether its necessary or not it is all up to the person facing it...and in our case of discussion..DA....played Baldurs Gate/Icewind Dale & Neverwinter Nights in the pc...not an easy thing to swallow but once you get the hang of it, it gets interesting... yes admittedly... it becomes monotonous at certain points but thats how it is.. we cant really send the products back just because it is not to our liking...and now to my DA on ps3...i got it 'cause of critic reviews...i'm currently still playing it...point to consider and which is true and a fact that...YES:Multiple pause...Reason:Its how the game transcends if you require tactical advantage but then again you can always play the game "shift-on-the-fly" its all up to you without any pauses..in my case i'd rather pause...i haven't played the DA on a pc but im pretty damn sure its quite manageable it terms of spell/ability selection compared to limited slots in a platform..the game in itself is not half bad nor is it a game breaking RPG to me...but since my platform is a PS3...i really need to think and consider what games i purchase to make my moneys' worth and we pretty much know why ...for DA...i think its worth a try for people who are thinking about it..rent it if you can and purchase it if you really like the game...as for DA2...something to look forward to...will see will see
