Let's stick to the evidence instead of relying on the anti-Catholic prejudice of a few here.

    God bless!

    Abstinence-Only Education Works, Contraceptive S3x-Ed Doesn't
    A listing of evidence

We should put sound science ahead of politics and ideology. The evidence is clear: abstinence-only programs work. It is now a matter of convincing the pro-RH ideologues to pay attention to the growing body of scientific data. If the pro-RH people refuse to listen to reason then why should we listen to them or support their RH Bill?

Don't believe in the underhanded attempts to discredit abstinence programs. Abstinence works! Contraceptive-based, "comprehensive" s3x education programs, on the other hand, don't work! In fact, they are COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.

for once mo agree ko ni manny sa iya last post...

abstinence is a lot effective nga i-teach sa school.. though other alternatives must also be introduced.. but abstinence should be promoted.. there are other implications of s3x.. such us psychological and health reasons... drugs available in market today arent intended for children or teens dba?

for all i care.. the can screw themselves whenever and however they want as long as they dont burdern their parents and take responsibilty for the children...

though im totaly against a catholic-based curriculum regarding such matter... support s3x education.. say no to ignorance and superstitions.. if your going to do it. atleast know how to do it properly and safely..

The only people who think abstinence works are perpetual virgins who have no urge to reproduce or have intercourse with the opposite ***.

I think a program that educates kids about human nature in a clinical setting, that neither encourages nor discourages the behavior, is the responsible thing to do for a secular society. Religion should have no say because the state is value-neutral and there are many religions in this country. As Stuart Mill so eloquently put, we must never permit a tyranny by the majority.

Also does anyone else agree with me that copying and pasting entire articles is attention-whoring and/or trolling, not to mention obnoxious? A simple link to the article and a short summary is more respectful of other posters and encourages debate. I would like to think that this is a forum about airing your own ideas instead of copy/pasting ideas written by other people you happen to agree with.

It's good we agree on something! Yehey!

Let me explain my misgivings about the DepEd program (whivch was thankfully stopped for now). My main issue is that such so-called "comprehensive ***-ed" is actually ineffective counterproductive, as has been shown by many studies.

However, since we do agree that abstinance should be promoted, let me make a few suggestions.

    1. Why not make the program modular and give parents and schools a chance to choose the modules that best reflect their beliefs and values? The state has no business deciding how to teach intoimate matters, This is best left to parents and their chosen moral leaders. If some parents want their childrwen to be taught how to use contraceptives, that is up to them. The pro-RH NGOs have huge budgets and can easily help schools set up such programs. Those parents who want their children to learn values and abstinence can turn to religious schools or opt to have their children values/abstinence education modules.

    2. Why not allow parents, schools, and religious organizations to also come up with their own programs? There are many effective models to choose from that have been tried and tested in other countries.

The state should never impose a single program and force schools to teach things that may violate the beliefs of persons. Instead, why not give parents and schools can be given a choice to implement what is most effective for their clientele?

You're just trying to cover up the truth and silence those who dare to speak it. That is far more obnoxious. Why not try coming up with some real arguments for change?

No. All I said was that copy/pasting of entire articles is obnoxious and against the spirit of real discussion. Don't overdramatize. Let me give you an analogy: It's like a person who enters a debate and decides to bring a megaphone to blast his opinions into everyone's ears. And he doesn't even blast his own opinions, he'll bring a tape recorded message and play the entire thing into the megaphone! Is that person really interested in healthy discussion or is such person, like yourself, only interested in broadcasting propaganda?

There's no need for you to copy/paste entire articles that are hundreds of lines long into this forum. A mere link to the article and a short paragraph from you regarding it -- is that too much to ask for the sake of civility and to prevent the thread from being dominated by your posts? Also, the normal thing that most people do is quote specific sections of articles and then provide their own take on them. You don't paste the wholg thing as if to say - there - the entire article is my opinion. Not only is this basic internet etiquette and good manners, it also the respectful thing to do for both your readers and the original writer of the articles you've blatantly copied. I'm not amused at having to tell this to a grown man, because this is something they teach to freshmen in college.

That's because I didn't realize copying entire articles is equivalent to "coming up with some real arguments".
