Descartes was also another one of those contemporaries of Galileo who had to steer clear from the persecuting hands of the Church. Descartes suppressed his own treatise, De homine, which he wrote in Holland, after learning about Galileo's fate at the hands of the Inquisition. It was only after Descartes' death that this essay got published.

I've already shown the what Galileo said about his trial, the Qualifiers' report, as well as Pope John Paul's statement on the Galileo affair, to prove that Galileo's persecution had nothing to do with science. It was all FAITH-BASED.
