PS3 versus Xbox 360 versus Wii

para sa ako lingaw na ko sa akong xbox 360 in terms of gaming because of the community sa live, as a media center, dili ko ingon ana ka bilib kay mas versatile pa akong modified xbox (supported formats). Reading the review and white paper sa PS3 - excited ko sa motion sensetive controller, depth sa graphics (depende pud sa imo TV) and media center capabilities - as usual ang nintendo... generally kids (dili big kids ) gyud na ila market.

I was reading a local gaming magazine the other day, and this critic pretty much sumed it up...

Nintendo Wii - Cheap but innovative gaming device
Xbox 360 - Gaming device (with multimedia capabilities)
Playstation 3 - Multimedia device (with gaming capabilities)

Not related to previous post but just effin fed up with the local (not so much in istorya but rather among discussions with friends)

Why are people always bringing up the BluRay factor when more than half of these people can't even tell the difference between a 4+gb dvd copy and an actual Region 1 (dual layer) copy without googling it?


A lot of 'em, to be brutaly frank, haven't even, at least, tried to setup something that brings out the beauty of original DVD.

If they didn't even bother to get teh full potential of DVD (it's been around a coupla years, dont bitch about 'not yet') then why talk about BluRay and High Definition at all?

Will buying a $600 game console/entertainment change their media preferences? Are they gonna buy an HDTV with HDMI input now? Are they going to fully support the BluRay format by buying the movies released in BluRay format?

I'm just tired of people bringing that up whenever 'defending' the PS3.

djereze: lol, yeah there are some here in istorya.. but i'm more pissed off with some of my friends from MLA and internationally.. napuro concentrate sa mga butang nga dili nila magamit or dili gamiton.

@darkwing: dude, haven't really checked with the .orgs but is Sony really trying to play with the open sourced world? Cos it's like hell froze over man gud when i heard about it. I mean, they just lost the PSP and homebew case right? Are they seriously going to literally 'open (SourcE) up?
Cos if it's true, then sweet..it'll be a bit expensive but obemon's got a point with it being a pretty sweet 600-dollar-web-crusin-game-playing-medica console.

@zerone: last i heard, it was true, but don't quote me, who knows what will change on the PS3 final specs, i mean its logical for them coz they keep on saying that the PS3 is more than a game machine, having linux run on it would certainly qualify it as a PC already and it would really kick MS for having an open source OS in the PS3, but i bet MS would counter by having Vista run on the 360 lol yup its really really crazy ang Nov is very very far away....

btw what do you mean they lost the homebrew case? there was a lawsuit or something?

On Sony copying the Xbox Live :
If you're saying that Sony isn't copying Xbox Live you must not have been following Sony's announcements from the start. Back when the Xbox 360 hasn't been released yet, Sony said that the PS3 will have an open online infastructure, exactly like how the PS2 has, (no community features, no central lobby, friends list, etc.) since they didn't see the importance of creating an online service like Live. So when the revamped Live took off when the Xbox 360 launched, what do they do? They announce a unified online service complete with microtransactions and all the other goodies that are in Xbox Live. In the end it doesn't really matter, all 3 companies copy from each other, that's the nature of competition, but denying the fact that Sony didn't copy Live just makes one a raving fanboy.

PS3 having Linux :
That's great (and yah, it's true, Sony hasn't retracted this feature yet), really , but uhm, is the average consumer going to care? Come launch time it will be all about the games, as it always has. Granted there might be some cool applications for this, so long as Sony doesn't cram the OS with all sorts of security checks just to ensure that the system won't be warez'd up. To the people interested in this, what will you be doing with this functionality, or what kind of applications would you envision using this?

So, which games will be available for the PS3 during launch and which games will be out 6-10 months after? And more importantly which of them will be good? I saw a list of games on the previous pages, but a lot of those games are cross-platform, and some of those games really aren't worth holding your breath over. Which games will make the PS3 worth owning?

I heard dem blu-ray discs are all shiny and fly real nice, good for frisbees, jk

I do know of a Wii / DS game worth owning once it's out, Bob Ross Joy of Painting!! (http://www.bobross.com/). lol that game is gonna own, can't wait to paint me my own 'happy tree', heheheheh. Seriously though, they're making a DS and Wii game based off the dude. (If you don't know who Bob Ross check out the site ).
