Unfortunately, due to the demand and sudden issue of microsoft licensing which really cost high. Some of the establishement now even single user are trying to adopt to open sources such as LINUX including myself.

We have several Linux/open source groups in Cebu. There are:

• Cebu GNU/Linux Users Group (Ce-GNULUG)
  (ce-gnu-lug@yahoogroups.com)
• Open Source Software Association of the Philippines (OSSA-PH)
  (ossa-ph@yahoogroups.com)
• and there are representatives of the Opensource Technology Association of the Philippines (a.k.a. Open Minds)

You can actually request assistance from these groups. Look them up on Yahoogroups and join the mailing lists.
You can get LOTS of technical help online.

Hmm... what do you guys think of organizing a small Open Source event here in Cebu? There was on eheld at USC-TC last year. Nothing big, but it got some inmportant people to attend including one of the CICT Commissioners (Dondi Mapa). I think I can convince a company or two to make a presentation and maybe even sponsor. Any ideas?

Lawrence has been real busy lately. I don't know about the other members though. Maybe a meeting would be nice. Nothing fancy. Just a get together perhaps?
