here's an earlier news about it where over-shading & under-shading was mentioned...

Error in shading is not PCOS' fault. Why blame it to the machine? It's human error. Besides, I think the COMELEC had tried its best to educate the people about the election. And if there was any technical problem, it's beyond human control (i.e. the PCOS's were not manipulated). Let fate take its course.
Counting the null votes would only be a waste of time and money.

where in my post did i blame the pcos machine? i'm a software engr by profession and i'm probably more forgiving of the pcos than most anyone here is. yes it "could" be human error (i'm assuming we are talking about under-shading & over-shading here) but you missed the point entirely. if this has been just a few hundred thousand votes then it would been moot or if binay's lead is wide enough. the issue of disenfranchisement in an election is a big deal (automated or not) specially in this case where the count is in the millions (2.6-3M). it's inconsequential with respect to the presidential race but it could very well be a game changer on the vice-presidential race.

this human error you talk of is not an error in real sense of the word. it's an unfortunate result of the automation process. the voter (the human) did not make a mistake. again i'm talking about over/under shading here. over-voting & under-voting could very well be a mistake. in the latter it could be intentional or unintentionally missed, not mistakes but whatever the case maybe they could not be resolved coz we are not psychics. in the case of under/over shading the intention of the voter can clearly be determined by us humans, it's just that the pcos machine was not able to figure it out. since it has the potential to change the outcome of the vice-presidential race then it's only proper that it be taken into account. that there is the point. i hope it's clear enough.
