i have a couple of galants before. so far no known issue except gasoline consumption since it a 2.0 liter engine. well naa pod galant nga 6 cylinder which is samot mas kalas sa gasoline.

pero base on experience nindot ang performance sa galant

So far, only ISC (Idle Speed Control) lang mostly problem sa Galant...Anyway, puwede ra pod pa combinar nimo ang ISC portion in case maguba..

Consumption is ok relative to Power...

Though kusog ang gas consumption sa Galant, kusgan man sad.
The other con to this car is that the parts and car registration stuff(insurance) are rather a little bit more expensive than other sedans since mid size sedan man ni siya and it is at par with Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
But all-in-all, if you want comfort and ride stability with a mix of power and fun, then this is the car for you.

I own a similar car before. That's a 7th Gen (7G) 'Rayban" galant.

Of course, mileage is not as good as the average 1.6L cars. That's the trade-off sa power you get from 2.0L engines and it's being a mid-sized sedan.
But the comfort is very great, especially for the 7G tungod sa iyang multilink suspension. Leg room is good, too, and the total interior space so you'll get better comfort while on the road.

Issues? I didn't had major problems sa ako 7G sauna.
But, just like A/T cars, transmission repair can be very costly for automatic transmissions.
But then again, dugay sad maguba so you will still have enough time to save
