Puno noted that the Court has already come up with its ruling which declared that the constitutional ban on midnight appointments does not cover vacancies in the SC, thus, upholding the authority of President Arroyo to appoint his successor.

“The rule of law is the glue that unites our society,” Puno stressed. “Without the rule of law, our society will disintegrate. All of us should observe this rule of law, there’s nobody who can excuse himself and say that he is not covered by the rule of law. The higher you are in the government the more you should respect the rule of law.”

He said all the three branches of government – the executive, legislative and judiciary – according to Puno, should unite in promoting the good of the people.

    -------------

Plus di lagi ka appoint pud si noynoy ug iyang kaugalingon CJ. kay unconstitutional.

Arroyo appointed a chief justice because if the sitting president hesitates to appoint a Chief Justice, Noynoy cannot appoint a Chief Justice if they will follow the logic that they have to pass through the JBC (Judicial and Bar Council)," he said. There will be no JBC when Aquino assumes the presidency on June 30 because of the absence of the Chief Justice, Enrile said.

dont speak as if mas bright pa mo sa law compared to Puno ug Enrile lol.
Don't speak as if CJ Corona is not tainted as well.
There is a more senior justice but wala gi pili kay grabe kaayo ka anti-corruption ang stance.
    You do the research.

Like Noynoy said, "Not by CJ Corona". He did not say "Not before any chief justice."
Almost every justice being interviewed advised Corona to take a peaceful exit, but his answers are yet to be heard.

@All: But going back to the facts, would you rather uphold the constitution (which gives Noynoy's right to be proclaimed even by a barangay official) or bow down to the word "RESPECT" which has been abused by Enrile and Puno?

People, make the choice, as you were given the right through the constitution to vote.

Haha... I never said anything that I am interested in any government position or an expert of whatsoever.
I am merely asking you point out facts in the constitution that prohibits Noy2 from being sworn in none other than the SC Chief Justice.

Diba kung walay facts, baseless ang argument?

Please oh please, I'm waiting for the section and article no. so I can correct myself!!

What embarrassment? When some people say that the swearing in by Noynoy before his barangay captain will embarrass the country, do they lay claim to embarrassment for having LOWLY people getting the publicity? We use Juan to portray the true Filipino face and circumstance and we flash his face throughout the world ( look at how many OFWs we have across the globe) and take pride in him, so there's definitely nothing wrong with empowering the barangay captain and giving a few minutes of fame to this lowly man or woman.

Corona's appointment to SC chief justice is certainly TAINTED. It doesn't take a genius to figure out his being beholden to the outgoing administration. He will not and cannot be perceived as independent because he has always demonstrated partisanship. This is the kind of partisanship (or obvious corrupt practice) that typifies the Arroyo administration.

The people have repudiated the Arroyo administration, resoundingly I must say, giving credence and truth to reports on corruption. A lowly man may not understand the dynamics of politics but he/she can undoubtedly see when politics is used to further personal ends. He/She knows too that the ballot is his/her most potent arm in saying "NO MORE".

The people who have repudiated the exiting administration are those who the barangay captain truly represents - not Corona. It is time to deviate from tradition if only to send a message that the Republic of the Philippines is really for the likes of the barangay captain, Juan. If, after the oath taking ceremony Noynoy decides to have a grand victory celebration with a sumptuous dinner for the Juans and his barangay captain as special guest, I'm sure he will not spend as much if he treats them to a dinner in America.

It is really when we think of our political leaders (and other leaders in governance) as SPECIAL that they too will come home each night (if they do come home)thinking they are indeed special, forgetting that they are PUBLIC SERVANTS. Again, it is about time to change tradition if what we do (or at least our political leaders)is to always bring back to the people the spotlight, the dinners, the taxes, the Malacanang (Congress, SC)and what it represents, etc.
    mao gyud. Go Noynoy!
