Limit voters to taxpayers only

Reserving voting rights for only a certain group of people is an attack on Democracy. It is good we are aware of an emerging problem with our people but this radical proposal will divide our country. It is misguided, short sighted and insensitive. How can any one person think of removing a basic human right from his fellowmen? Majority of the people are misinformed but low iq remains to be questionable. Education is key rather than further divide the country. Philippines is a country for Filipinos, regardless of social status, educational background, religion or race.

agree ko nimo sir.. though im sure na ang TS is just suggesting the idea para dili ma sayang ang votes (iyang vote) but in the process it takes away the essence of why we vote. we vote kay it is our right and para ni sa tanan (of legal age).

this is another stupid idea. just because the outcome of the election is not what some people expected, it doesn't mean that we have to deprive some sectors to have equal right to vote. to vote is a right of very citizen.

we should screen the candidates not the voters.

if you are hardworking, not lazy and have discipline, di jud ko ka ingun bugo ang taw kay pina agi ani nga mga batasan, ang taw makatun sa kaayuhan.

mao na di nata angay mag tinapulan ug mag disiplina nata. no jaywalking gani, ayaw pag binastos ug labang. no throwing of garbage gani, di mag binastos ug labay.

simple ra kau na di pa jud mabuhat.

thats what we as filipinos have to/should do. start on the little things that could/will eventually help not just ourselves but everyone.

you know what guys, it would be much easier and more peaceful if we would filter our candidates rather than filtering the voters.

mas dali ug mas sayon pa buhaton kung ang mga kandidato maoy hashasan hangtod nga tulo nalang ang mahabilin pulos maayo.

kaysa ang mga botante maoy panaktakon.

dili tugotan molansad ang mga questionable nga tawo.
dili tugotan molansad ang mga naay pending nga kaso sa ombudsman.
dili tugotan molansad ang mga walay capacity to govern and lead a nation.

instead of imposing laws that would discriminate the lower class voters.

in this way, every candidate is a good choice.

thats what i dont get sir na why comelec cant do that sa mga candidates. for example two - three candidates will lessen the doubt of filipinos who dont really know who to vote. and in the process it also elimanates/minimizes unfit/unqualified candidates to be placed on power and run the nation.

As I have mentioned earlier, somehow at this point in time, we need electoral reforms, but not to the extent of taking away the right to vote for every citizen.

Akoa lang ni mga suggestions:

- Qualification of Candidate
- Capacity of the Candidate to Govern (tanawa si trillanes, bsan naa sa prisohan, gipadagan japon ug senador. And worst is nakadaog pajud; Another example is a congressional candidate sa district 5 sa cebu, convicted na, but still COMELEC accepts his COC)

The first thing we need to address is the quality of people running for public office. From there, re-evaluate the electoral system. Federalism is very good if you put the right people to govern the state or province. Ang problema sa ato systema karon gud, atoa kita toa sa national, unya mahibalik sa mga provinces, sinsilyo na lang. Unequal distribution of public funds... Federal system, naay katungod ang every state for economical reforms, etc. Sa ato, hangad intawon ta sa mga tawo nga toa sa kaulohan.

Let's not take away our freedom to vote! Let's put quality people on those public offices...

YJOB's idea of thorough filtering candidates rather than filtering the voters is much better.
But, this will require a revision of our Constitution and all laws that govern the National Elections which I doubt majority of the politicians will see this as a threat to their own advantage of money-making.

it should be from the office of the VP with the President as the last signatory

kung i filter ang candidate i.e. clearance from pending cases, mag unhanay na sila ug file ug case against each other para lang ma disqualify sila sa COC maamong na apil ang mga tarong nga candidato. Daghan na kaayu ni sila ug tactic gawas pa sa ilang pagka mud-slinger ug whistle-blower
