To be fair, some ancient knowledge, especially those that have withstood objective and rigorous scientific or mathematical scrutiny and testing, are indeed deep. It's only those that have been propped up by tradition and defended to death by their zealots that are outdated.
@hitch22...why not organize a skeptic society..I was thinking of doing this a long time ago pero nawala na kay medyo na busy, i was even asking the Skeptic Magz before kung kinsa subscriber dre sa Pinas just to have a contact with them..although wala sila ni hatag but they told me nga there was 2 aside from me..
pero lisod jud dre, sumtyms or most of the tyms makibagay nalang ka kay ikaw man mahimo noun buang, like what rodsky said A sane man in an insane society is the one deemed insane...
Naa thread karon sa General Discussion about ghost daw..why not joini think it's a good start..
I had my share pero hinay2x lang ko basin ma awayan ta
I used to read Licauco's column in inquirer, I emailed and told him to apply sa $ 1m challenge ni Randi but wala mana sya ni reply![]()

Don't forget to add alternative medicine in your hit list for your 'intellectual' drive-by..har!
Up to this day, Licauco is a firm believer in the so-called psychic powers of Uri Geller, despite the latter getting humiliatingly exposed by the late Johnny Carson in 70s. In his "Inner Awareness" column last year, he rhapsodized over Uri's demonstration of psychokinesis. Here's the article: Psychic demonstrates telepathic powers.
Now, take a look at this 70s footage of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. You'll see that Uri couldn't show off his alleged psychic powers, and he was reduced to giving excuses like he doesn't feel strong. That's non-sense. You know the saying "It takes one to know one"? Carson and Randi are both experienced in the sleight-of-hand trade. Unlike us non-magicians, when these professional conjurers see a trick performed by someone else, they usually have an idea how that's done...but they won't tell you. In Uri's case, because he fraudulently claimed he had genuine psychic powers, Carson and Randi took him up to the task. As expected, Uri failed and his popularity crashed after that humiliating episode in the Tonight Show.
In one interview, James Randi recalled that incident. He explained why Uri couldn't guess which of the little metal canisters contained water. He speculated that, for Uri to guess correctly without opening the canister, he would have to nudge the table slightly using his knee and take subtle notice on which canister would move less....and that would be the one that contains the water. So, he instructed the Tonight Show crew to glue the canisters to the table.
Today, there are magicians who, like James Randi, have made it one of their cause to expose charlatans. Famous ones are Penn & Teller. I think Criss Angel did a short clip, showing a psychic surgery illusion and at the same time telling the audience that it is just a trick. It's easy for charlatans and fraudsters to fool ordinary people like us. But ask them to perform their trickery in front of Criss Angel or Penn & Teller. I doubt they'd even dare.
Shame on you, Mr. Licauco, for perpetuating non-sense and promoting gullibility.![]()
uri geller is a waste of time! you all know that dudes! ... hes david blaine in old days..
but for me, i really believe in psychokinesis.... i also believe on quantum mechanics.... if you study quantum mechanics (the very basics), then you can conclude that these phenomenon are 100% REAL....
who wants to debate with me huh?!!!! ...![]()
Basta ikaw, bai, surrender mi.
Yes, the known laws of the macro universe doesn't apply in the weird quantum world. At the sub-atomic level, electrons transfer from one energy level to the next without traversing the distance in between...kinda like TELEPORTATION. And if one can craftily construct a logically coherent argument to transpose the laws of quantum mechanics to the macro world, kinda like what Deepak Chopra does, then you can get people to believe that they can levitate just by thinking hard enough.
Here's what James Randi said about psychokinesis: "I'm not saying there's no such thing as psychic abilities. They could be out there, and I'm willing to be shown."
That's why when it comes to psychic abilities, the operative word is DEMONSTRATE, not debate. Like what the JREF challenge says: Name the condition under which you say you're able to demonstrate those powers and then show up and do exactly as you said.
heheeehh....
mao ra sad, ang word nga DEMONSTRATE lang lage jud magdaog... kay pirting daghanag CLAIMS pero kung ipademonstrate in a controlled environment kay mabulilyaso, unya morason dayon og mga palpak nga rason...
btw, kaning levitation pud dako pud kaayo possibility nga makaya ni sa tawo without an aid of any device..... remember nga ang atong electrons naay gitawag nga magnetic dipoles... og ang earth naay gitawag nga magnetic poles...................
ang key/barrier lang jud diha kay kung unsa ba jud nang 'THOUGHT' .... naa ra na diha tanan... kung masulbad nang pangutanaha na, aw pwede nata manglupad bai![]()
