BEST SCHOOL LOL!
Hi guys,
I'm a parent who's been sending his kid to BRIGHT academy. Up to say 3rd or 4th grade, I would say that the prohibitive tuition fees were probably justified, since I've noticed my son enjoying his time in school, gaining new confidence and making new friends. I think it's important, at your child's tender age, that the school brings him along gently, rather than traumatize him/her with stressful demands. The emphasis on learning as fun, as well as their excellent facilities, is really what made me decide in favor of this school.
However, after the 4th grade, the fees just skyrocket out of control. For the price you pay, BRIGHT academy cannot back it up with anything. It has nothing to hang its hat on, aside from the yearly musical and a few good finishers in some sports event. There's no "No. 1 in Math Olympiad", no international accreditation, no "99% admission to Ateneo, La Salle, UP, etc.", no "No. 1 in some national test." Nothing.
By what criteria should we judge schools? I would put reputation first, as backed up by its alumni's achievements and what they actually say about their schools. Second and equally important would be the subjects. You know how prepared your child will be for the university-level if the subjects (especially Math and Science) he/she was taught in high school was up-to-standard. I really don't know much about these new, well-advertised schools. But by long tradition, I would still put CIS, Cebu Science, Sacred Heart, CEC, St. Benedict, USC-Boys/Girls, and STC as the best schools for secondary education.
If you calculate everything by ratios, say cost-per-quality index (with the lowest ratio representing the best value for money), that would make Cebu Science, USC, and CEC at the top. And if you can afford some more but don't want to be called a cheapskate, then you go for the middle pack: St. Benedict, STC, and Sacred Heart.
I have something more to say (pros and cons) about some of these schools, but I'll save that for later.
Hope that helps.![]()
