I agree to that, priests of today's generation have PHD's in Psycjology in Philosophy. In fact we have minor subjects in psychology. So please stop judging priests, they are still humans.

getting a phd in psychology or studying psychology is quite different from going thru a psych evaluation.

when a priests arrives late for a mass, forgets something during mass we could pass it as just being human but it's another thing when a priest commits something as heinous as say molesting children. there's no way for us to just dismiss it as just being human. it's not only a sin in the eye of the church, it's also a crime against society.

i'm not judging priests and certainly not upcoming priests like you for the mistakes other priests have done. take this as a challenge. you are aware of the problem and you can be a part of the solution. when you do become a priest, i hope in your own way you will be able to restore the faith of people who have lost it.

sakto pud... pero I am still hoping that there will still be people who will stand up and take up priesthood... d mn dapat n tungod lng sa sayop sa 1 maangin n ang tanan, though the head of the Catholic Church should really be working on this, aron d mawala ang faith sa tao...

Well, It is nice to hear that priest would go under psych evaluation. This would be a great help for priests who really serve for God.

It will not only prevent people who are suffering from mental illness from entering seminary but it will also determine those psychopathic candidates for priesthood.

A psychopath can have high verbal intelligence, but they typically lack "emotional intelligence". They can be expert in manipulating others by playing to their emotions. There is a shallow quality to the emotional aspect of their stories (i.e., how they felt, why they felt that way, or how others may have felt and why). The lack of emotional intelligence is the first good sign you may be dealing with a psychopath. A history of criminal behavior in which they do not seem to learn from their experience, but merely think about ways to not get caught is the second best sign.

Example: He might looks very charming and influential because of his verbal intelligence (maboka, magaling magsalita, kapani-paniwala) but on the back of his brain he has a criminal mind. He could kill as many as he wants.

Before it was very hard to determine a psychopath. It has no symptoms or signs of mental illness. They looks normal, intelligence and very convincing. But with the help of modern technology, with use of only MRI doctors can now determine a psychopathic person. Thanks to the technology...we can have a safer society. This will prevent psychopath from entering and handling position in politics, religious organization and most they will have a less or no influence to the life people.

I've been in Europe. You could determine those people who are suffering from mental illness and those are psychopaths. They have been monitored by council or local authority. Sana ganyan din sa Pilipinas para walang pari at politician na psychopath na makapag lead sa atin.

I'm a catholic but I'm very ashamed being one because of their wrongdoings and the scandals they made especially recently. I know priests are human as well and they also have their flaws but I think the church should tighten their process on ordaining priests like the requirements on becoming a member of the Freemasonry.

Yeah, I agree on devnull, it should be a mandatory requirement to go through Psychiatric Evaluation especially before their ordination. But not only Psychiatric Evaluation though, and also Erotic Preferences Examination Scheme. They can't be a priest if it finds out that their erotic sexual interest are more towards children and/or men. Simple as that.

@force_driven: Do you guys have Neuro-Linguistic Programming class in the seminary? There's nothing wrong with NLP, I'm just asking.

haven't heard of that b4, in my case I've finished my psycho-spiritual integration.. And bro about freemasonry, that's not a good idea - something bad would happen if priests are also masons. Yeah, I've known many seminarians who are inactive sa Freemasonry and they said -it's bad!

The Church is acting because the gov't has a problem and they want to solve it as well as the abuses made by some priests (thank God lumiliit na ang problema sa mga pari dri sa Pinas, at least ni decrease an mga sayop og kakolihan)... The only necessary thing for evil to triumph is when good men do nothing..( di naman lahat ng pari masama ahh..in fact i know many of them who are really good like Fr. Herman Licayan, Fr. Ruel Lasco, the Gomburzas, Saint Pio, Fr. Nestor Atillo, Fr. sedronico de los Santos, etc.)

Guys ayaw mo og kawad an og salig nila. Naa gyapoy maayo sa kanila even sa mga politico which we branded as corrupt but I know naa dyoy maayo.

Point: This century is a very interesting period in the history of the Church and change will occur, for better or for worse. Hindi lang sila ang may problem, sa Boy Scouts mayroon din.
