Like Ezra mentioned, there was a Cebu woodstock some 15 years ago. Three (or two, I think) days of love, peace, and music, over the weekend at the Cebu Coliseum. While it was good from the start, it kind of got boring after the first night. Not too many major artists, mostly cover bands from Manila, Olongapo and Cebu (slow rock genre). It was the first major comeback for Joey "Pepe" Smith after his rehab (he was so thin, he looked like the walking dead). It was also the first time I saw Tropical Depression and have been a fan since then. It didn't have most of the local ground bands that were popular at that time hence was not that supported by the underground scene. No offense intended, but it didn't cater much to the Y101 crowd, more of like the Smash crowd, so to say. Security and sanitation were an issue then. At the start of the second day, the coliseum was a big stench of urine. The usual crowd antics were there (i.e. bandana/shirt burning, lots of jerks who had to many cough syrups, a few got into fist fights because somebody stepped on their anvil jeans, hehe). If I remembered it right, Mel Libre sang his first single at the event. His singing career stopped after that. lol.

Having said that, a woodstock type concert this time would be good, with all the talented bands, playing original material (a good number of them are even Cebu based) and enjoying a good following. As long as its properly organized, with all major issues (i.e. security, sanitation) being ironed out, it should be a good one.

ok man ang woodstock idea..and i think we should invite the neighboring cities from the visayas..atleast naa pa diay mutanaw na mga taw gikan sa ilang syudad...mas larger ang crowd...nya daghan kaau ang mga bands diri sa cebu..esp. sa mga underground scene..mga maau kaau...i even joined the moshpit last may20 at boss grill (substance32)nya sa akng nabasihan..naa jud mga taw na di jud kasabot sa mosh pit..naay uban taw maniguro...hehehe...kung naay mosh pit sa upcoming na woodstock sa cebu,murag dako2x na mosh pit ang mapurma ani..andam na lng jud mo ug daghan first aid ug mga ambulance....hehehe..kay daghan kaau na among ato sa boss grill..hehehe...
