if short circuited imong case, try remounting everything and check all wires... I did that before, that problem never surfaced afterwards.
- does it happen to all USB ports? (front and back)
- if it's only happening in the front, the leads are incorrectly wired
- have you tried plugging a different USB flash drive? (different brand, capacity)
- boot from SAFE MODE and try plugging it
- what is the error message(s) in the EVENT VIEWER?
sir i'm sorry i cannot quite get the problem. is the computer rebooting after inserting the usb? if so, try to reboot the computer (without the usb inserted) and use safe mode. then try to uninstall the driver for the usb in the device manager. after doing so. restart the computer on normal booting. check the device manager and check if you have missing drivers on your device manager aside from the usb driver. pm me what is the result.
some computers do reboot due to drivers not configured properly. the driver may looks ok but it sometimes conflicts with some other device with the wrong driver.
get a new computer
