unlocking cores is it safe?

one word of caution lang...if you are one of those rare & very unlucky few who happens to get a processor where the VCC of the disabled core was inadvertently connected to GND during the etching process, thus making the core defective(& thus was disabled) and you re-enable it...PATAY !!!

i've heard of this yong pero wa po kita ug actual post nga direct mismo sa thread starter or respondent. do you have a link? interested ko mo scan through

unfortunately wala...the very few unlucky people who had this specific problem never had the chance to know what hit their pc when they flick the switch on i'll try to ask pics from my former officemate who now works at the AMD Failure Analysis Lab in Santa Clara, CA...basin mataga-an ta...

nope, im not connected to pcx bro. ngkhai-ngenius, cac, apps, pcqb, gi.. hehe kumpleto..

btw, a super newbie question here. whats the value of vcc nowadays?.. hehe. i think P1 & P2 has 3.3V while my good old 8088 has 5V.

regarding the unlocked cores, will these mean hotter temps compared to locked cores (@stock speeds)..

higher temps,

when i unlock my x2 550 to 4 cores sauna increase daun temps maski di ko mag monitor sa bios or software, hikapon lang heatsink maka feel na ko og difference

higher power consumption

enabling disabled cores adds total transistor counts sa processor, thus increasing its overall power consumption and considering also gi disabled na sila for certain reasons, maybe nay transistor nga constant ga leak hehehe
