on topic, I used to fish out on the river back home... we used just string/hook and using a bamboo pool also the lure a yukkie worm freshly dug from the ground... we used to get fish called "halwan" (could not remember the spelling) and some "ito"... it was fun and specially cooking it! I dunno if the river still has fish nowadays...

those were the days... /sigh

My Dad is doing fishing and I sent him a really good (portable) fishing rod since he still use the bamboo pool... and some fake shiny worms that you can buy at sports shop. My parents new home is near the ocean so they can do fishing anytime...

Fight time...around 5 mins
using 12lbs test berkley trilene big game line on a Shimano Symetre 4000 reel, on a tica medium action rod caught using a rapala Skitterpop lure....
fish was released to live and fight me another day again....

this is one of the bigger specimens theyre normally around 6-8inches ang weight less than a kg...but still fight good...
they hit artificial lures a lot too....
