Yes, alkanse permi ang suroy-suroy kay subsidized na permi sa capitol. but in fairness, countryside cebu has been known through suroy-suroy. places like malapascua and other northern and southern tourist spots have been promoted to balikbayans and foreigners through this project.

Correction. Suroy2 was originally a project of the Balik-Cebu Committee of the Cebu City Tourism Commission. Behind it were the following: Tita Baad of Ayala Land, Dawnie Roa of DOT-7, Alice Queblatin of Cebu Association of Tour Operators, Eileen Mangubat of Cebu Daily News, Marison Barria of Baron Travel, Esperidon Rojas of DFA-7, Agnes Magpale of Cebu Provincial Board, Ahmed Quizon of Mactan Airport, Pidang Misterio of OWWA and Grace Paulino of Cebu Provincial Government. The Balik-Cebu still meets regularly to invite balikbayans and foreigners to come and visit Cebu.

Top US travel mag ranks Cebu one of Asia’s best

MANILA, Philippines—Cebu has been ranked the third best island in Asia by New York based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

The Philippine island follows Bali, which ranked first, and Maldives, second.

Cebu got a rating of 87.5 points, eight points up from last year’s 79.68 point.

Cebu’s inclusion in the list was significant and rewarding because the provincial Government has been promoting the component towns and cities and Cebu was recognized as an island-province in the magazine.

Travel + Business magazine recently released the results of the survey, which covers hotels, airlines, cruises, islands and cities all over the world.

Phineas Alburo, Department of Tourism undersecretary, said the good news proves Cebu has a lot to be proud of.

He noted the magazine is a prestigious American publication in which respondents were asked to rate the islands based on their natural attractions, activities and sights, restaurant and food, people and value.
