When I still had panic attacks I did not want to drink anything new for fear it might have a negative effect on me. When you have panic attacks your sensations are sharper than normal the slightest stimuli just might give you an attack. That's my theory.

I stayed away from crowds, from noise, from television (because of the bad news on television), coffee and smoke, and I told my family to not speak in agitated and panicked tones unless there was a reason to.

When I hear a sound, I need to be able to identify where it's coming from and what it is, or my imagination will go on overdrive, and I'll have another attack.

Observe yourself and identify triggers (we may have different triggers). Then stay away from these triggers for a while. I'm not saying you completely remove yourself from things, I'm saying to slow down and give yourself time to relax. Sleep early (normal hours), stay away from caffeinated drinks, don't smoke.

Also I read on the internet that panic attacks may be linked to hyperthyroidism or Grave's disease. But don't panic yet.

I don't know if it was coincidence that years after my panic attacks stopped, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I no longer drink any thyroid medications after my thyroid hormones normalized. I also no longer have panic attacks though I don't think that's a direct cause of my having taken thyroid medication because again, my panic attacks stopped before I exhibited other symptoms of hyperthyroidism.

I'm not saying all with panic attacks have thyroid problems. But it might be a good idea to check. All my statements are based on experience. I don't have a doctor for my panic attacks, I diagnosed myself after research on the internet.
