EU ban on airlines from the Philippines

Since when did someone have to use something to be forbidden from using it beforehand?

After the last commercial flight of Philippine Air Lines in 1999, CAAP failed to renegotiate with the EC to allow commercial flights to EU for the same reasons thus there were no other commercial flights granted to any Carrier from RP. Effectively we are already banned.

Thus my Question .... How can you Ban someone who is already BANNED?

or maybe this is just a reminder to CAAP from EC ... buy our machines now or you will be BANNED every year by EC. hehehehe

PAL safety measures are already ok, but the problem is that PAL did not follow the regulatory standard in Europe I guess... Its not the standard itself but the system they follow.

so the ban was actually effective since 1999... and it was but a reminder that they would allow commercial flights from the phils only if we buy the scanner and follow their safety measures system?

When will ASEAN actually band together and take concerted action against bullying by the EU? I mean really, if ASEAN were a stronger regional bloc this kind of thing just would not happen! How many terrorist attempts have originated in the Philippines and been successful? And coincidentally how many in EU have been attempted? I believe there have been 5 attempts in London alone and quite an alarming number in Spain and France that have been either successful or thwarted! Are EU security procedures really that safe? Did Reid the Shoe Bomber not originate from England?

I love how Europe thinks they can bully a small country and lament the fact that they do because they can! ASEAN should implement something very simple and effective: ban any one of our member countries and all our member countries ban you. That will surely shut up these EU economic saboteurs.

hmmm... i think we should blame it on local political problems on of each ASEAN member state take for example Burma and the Phils..

I don't think it is cost effective to have direct flights from Philippines to any EU countries since we don't fly that much to EU. Location wise Phil is far from EU than other asian countries that has direct flights.

That's exactly my point, ASEAN is weak and stronger blocs like EU laugh at us because the member countries can't get their act together!

well they are by far older states and more experienced than ASEAN states... THey have GB, France, Germany and most of the G8... thats formidable...
