There was never any mention of PUP students demanding that taxes be increased to fund their subsidies. Or maybe i'm just not aware of it. But, really, about tax increases? what's new. they increase every year or so.

No, just to clarify, they have not asked for an increase in taxes per se, but because they succeeded in rolling back the 2000% tuition increase, PUP will now need to receive larger subsidies from the government (as mentioned by the PUP president himself). Everyone knows such subsidies come from taxpayer money, and because these now have to be increased, the burden to the taxpayer has therefore also increased. That is why I say that if these students don't understand that the money has to come from somewhere, if not from them, then from the taxpayer, then they are being ungrateful because as "Iskolar ng Bayan" they should know it is the taxpayer who subsidizes almost the entire cost of their education. This is true even if we were to factor in the 2000% increase in tuition.

oh well, you have your opinion about this issue, i have mine. i guess we grew up in different cultures. although i did not join any rallies or was active in any activist group in UP, it was ingrained in us to be socially aware, to take a stand, and to fight for what we believe in, for the greater good. we were taught that student activism promotes change, speaking out is good, and understanding human behavior is key to surviving. i guess you have to be in their shoes to understand why those students did what they did. i guess if it concerned you directly, you'd be happy that something good came out of it. but since you're not really involved, the fact that CHED, at least, now sees their side just don't matter to you one way or the other, what concerns you is that they burned some junk and how it's not right---doesnt matter why they did it, just that they had the gall to fight

ako ma example ani akong classmate before..nakuha niya nga maka graduate sa college maski ng trabaho siya sa isa ka fast food chain,,take note dili pa gani to public school ha private to..ngano nakaya man niya?
i think it all boils down to expectation. when you're in a private school, you understand that it would be expensive and there is no government subsidy. when you're in a state school, you understand that it is less expensive compared to private schools since there is government subsidy. when circumstances suddenly change and are now contrary to expectations, thats when people react, and thats what happened at PUP
