Well in fairness, it probably was not just about jueteng money, but the dishonesty and the fact that he hid his wealth under a pseudonym. But yeah I sometimes wonder if we'd have been better off under Estrada than Arroyo. He did have some very smart people in his cabinet helping him. And contrary to Arroyo's claims, call centers were established under his term, not hers. And exporters were all happy under Estrada, but not under Arroyo who many suspect manipulates the exchange rate so she can borrow money cheaply before allowing it to rubberband back to high levels...

There was this Asian financial crisis back then, but I don't think, it can be posted as an excuse for our economic growth at that time. We were affected, along with the other SEA neighbors. But how come, our "neighbors" had done positive changes and we didn't? Is it really because of that "fiasco"? How about those two years before the "fiasco"? And if he is really good as some say, that impeachment "fiasco" shouldn't have taken place. But it happened due to his controversies - which by the way, worsened our economy.
