"Sweet Spot" in canon 50mm 1.8

question lang ni permi sa akong utok.. hehe.. as i browse sa net. sa flickr particular sa mga images sa capture sa 50mm 1.8 mk ii using the sweet spot of the lens, its superb sharp indeed.. i wonder if gi sharpen pa ba na nila sa photoshop sad? kay.. i use 50mm sa 5.6 which is its sweet spot (f5.6-f and i use manny librodo sharpening tech. hehe. and notice na murag sobra ra ka sharp.. and ma notice na nimo murag line.. tungod ka sharp.
so my question.. if using ang sweet spot.. is it necessary na ei sharpen pa sa photoshop?? ganna post later sa pics sa flickr... kato ako nakitan na.capture sa 50mm

my contribution to this thread: i use whatever aperture i feel like using regardless of the lens type / model.

also, f5.6 with a prime 50mm. whew! that made your 50mm 1.8 II lens useless...

+1 to Lito's comment. In my 1-year experience with it, the 50mm 1.8 is sharpest at 5.6 (center to corner). However, it's already very good at f/2.8. I suggest you shoot the same static sidelit object with texture using different apertures from 1.8 to the narrowest. Shoot the same center point. Download your photos and pixel-peep. Enjoy.

IMHO - for me its not necessary to sharpen in PS unless its needed. I use different sharpening techniques in PS mainly for creative sharpening, posting on web and for printing ug lahi2x ra sila sa timpla.

dli gyud tanan instances magamit nmo ang ML sharpening. For me I still use High Pass sharpening to highlight sharpness of different textures of the image.

Sharpening really depends on your style. In my case, i only sharpen if needed. If i focused my subject right, then no need. Sharpening sometimes makes your image look DIGITAL. I'm using digital SLRs but I don't want my images to look COMPUTERIZED. (back to the other topic about PP LOL!) I want it to look classic and natural (pwede pud film-like).

Some wants their images to be soft, some wants it noisy, some wants it REALLY clean, some wants it VERY SHARP, some wants Dave hill look (a lot of wannabe's), and some loves Luci's Art (i'm not sure how you spell it, i never liked it).

back to the topic, if you want your image to be not-very-sharp... then do not use Manny's style. Easy as that. If you are using PS, go to Filter menu -> Sharpen -> Sharpen... if not enough, then CTRL+F. basic hehehe...

50mm 1.8 II - I still have mine (4+ years old hehe)... i can't remember i used it at 2.8 and down hehehe...

Whenever mang downsize ug digital photo, usually you will need to sharpen it bisan gamay lang. Sharpening amount will depend on the image at hand ug kung unsa ang imong gusto nga final output. There's no perfect ug one for all sharpening strength or setting, you should use it wisely to get the best result.

Another factor to consider is how you downsize the image file, there are different algorithm available, just use what's best for a particular image.

para nako, nasobraan ug edge sharpening.
Better post a 100% crop without post processing when we need to discuss the sweet spot of the lens.
