Explain how that is the worst configuration, do you even know what you're talking about? That is the classic public/private key cryptography configuration. The reason why the key is "private" is because it is held privately... otherwise it wouldn't work. Please no more scaremongering, if you really know what you're talking about elaborate, if not, just keep quiet nalang. I have taken a master's level course in computer security so be forewarned before you formulate your response, because I will take it apart if it's wrong.

I just hope that what i've posted earlier is an example of a press release that had gone terribly wrong. Just called a friend of mine and informed him about this. He told me not to trust the press. That was a relief.

I'm not against poll automation and i've embraced public key crypto for years. But i just don't like the idea(based on the press) that Smartmatic-TIM is the one holding all those keys. Actually, i don't get it . Maybe you can explain that to me further. I don't understand your explanation on why its called "private" because it's held privately....? well, let's just hope for the best. kai ako, dili man gyud ko familiar sa process. it really comes down to the policies and procedures ni comelec. let me site an example. if im not mistaken, naa naka mention ug SSL? sige, SSL. SSL is a point to point encryption. data from point A is encrypted to point B. that's a good thing kai secure. ato nah i compare sa physical world. let's say we have two banks. bank's A and B. the secure way of transferring money from bank A to bank B is thru an armored car. that is also a good thing kai secure. the armored car now is our SSL encryption. Let's say wala ta policies and procedures pag transfer sa money. so bali pag-abot sa armored car sa bank B, iya ra dayon gibilin ang money sa bank B's door. now that's stupid. kung ikaw kawatan, you don't attack the armored car. mag hulat ka na ibilin sa armored car ang money sa door sa bank B. pag hawa sa armored car, kawaton dayon nimo money. kung naa ta policies and procedures pag transfer sa kwarta, dapat naa maghulat sa door pag abot sa armored car. para safe ang money.

so kung ikaw hacker, you don't attack the SSL encryption. you attack the policies and procedures kung naa loophole.

wala man gyud tingali fraud-proof nga system BUT i think we have to trust what modern technology can do to at least make the elections efficient, least fraudulent and less violent. In an automated system, mawala na ang mga usual nga pamaagi sa panikas such as: flying voters ug ballot box snatching and hostaging.
