I'm planning a trip back there soon. And the place would really have changed a lot over the last 12yrs, but hopefully it would still remain as beautiful as it was before.
Sorry to say, it's not the same as before. Nindot kaayo ang Canigao before ni siya nadiscover sa publiko/gidevelop for tourism. Sa iya center naay gamayng forest. We used to go birdwatching there. Daghan kaayong bird species. Sa dapit sa iya sanctuary, early mornings, naay mga wild ducks ug wading birds magfeeding. Karon, ang forest giclear na. Gihimong maisan unya kay wala man nisalir(of course dili jud) karon gbutangan na ug cottages. My feathered friends had all gone away. Very sad.

I've snorkeled (with permission from the authorities) the marine sanctuary before. Baga kaayo ang isda, daghan pang tridacnas, healthy ang corals. But that was 15 years ago. Saon from 4:00 to 6:30 P.M. way hunong snorkel.

That's too bad mate. I pity and felt sorry for the island. Man always have a way of destroying / mutilating / changing what's already good and beautiful to fit it's horrendous taste..

I'm definitely against this concept and mentality.

Would it be better if we left the island be in it's natural state? Ie. why fix something that's isn't broken, or why make something beautiful when it already is??

We are just visitors, so we enjoy what it has to offer. We leave it as it is.

We don't change it to suit our taste, but rather we change or we adapt / adjust for the island to us..

    Smile canigao!

yup..its a nice place...was there 2 weeks ago with relatives. the kids had so much fun with the sand. the water was very clear. the island people sells assortment of shellfish and freshly caught fish. and they sell it super cheap...a pail of big shellfish is just P200. you can bring foods with you but don't leave any garbages when you are about to go home... cottages are available for rent with price ranges from P100, P300, P500.. you can bring tents too. tables and chairs are also available for rent. entrance fee is P10 per person but it's negotiable. i forgot to ask the fare for the boat. they have an area for grilling so its not a problem if you want to cook...for pictures you can check my wife's link...

    Welcome to Facebook | Facebook

if you want you can also visit didjo island...its near inopacan area...its nice also but few people went there
