Of course with increased income is the increase in spending power and therefore inflation. That's the rule of economics. Nothing much we can do about it.

I dont think this is a sound suggestion. YOu cannot dictate prices because these are dictated by the markets. This is the principle of laissez faire or the let alone policy.

The best solution of the government is to provide incentives to investors, improved infrastructure through public spending to attract investors, stamped out corruption that is eating away whatever gain that we have.

Giving the workers a paltry share of the fruits of production would invite unrest which will shy away investors.

I was dismayed by this post. I know this guy is learned, a respectable businessman. He can do better than that.

You pray that the workers will not receive a raise? The worker who give life to your business? I am just wondering people could eat well and sleep well in the comfort of their homes while their workers are underpaid and overworked. Lets be realistic right now. Their pay can hardly tide them to the next pay.

I dont understand. People in this country hate rallies or insurgent groups. People in this country talk about unity and cooperation, " Magkahiusa ta instead nga magbinirahay ta paubos" or "lets make a sacrifice for our country, enough of politics." Yet here comes the first test of that unity and here they are unwilling to make a little sacrifice for their fellow men.

Please treat your workers as partners in your business and not as slaves. It has been banned hundred years ago. Help their families too. Help them also to live a dignified life with a wage of a decent man. Do not exploit their misery by threatening to lay them off if they ask for an increase. Its normal. Or shall I suggest you change roles so that you can feel what they feel with the small pay they got.

I hope I made myself clear.

For me I guess it's time to increase the minimum daily wage. That's why for me, it would be reaonable to have a wage increase na gyud.

On the business side, lestat does have a point. When an expense goes up to the point that the buffer allocated for the product is reduced dramatically, there is no other way but to increase prices. And an increase of an additional 125 pesos per employee per day will do so. This does not only affect a company but it's suppliers as well creating a vicious cycle.

While companies would want to help their employees by raising their quality of life, there are factors that should also be considered. This is what seems to escape the thoughts of many. While the employees are a major factor, there are the expenses (operating expenses, utility bills, taxes, etc.) and payments that have to be made to its suppliers as well. Top this with competitors whose only aim seems to be to bring down their prices to monopolize the market.

Increase in expenses with little profit margin due to current market prices surely means doom for a company. What good would a closed down company be to an employee?

If businesses do not increase their prices to compensate for the extra expense brought about by the salary increase, how will the business survive?

Well companies should learn new ways to bring down operating expenses while making their products and services with more quality as to establish name and brand so their price wont be dictate by economics alone but with the name brand quality of the products or services it produces so they afford this wages increases .......and employees should learn not to depend on salaries alone they should have some other source like small business, sideline better if the latter had much bigger income than salary.

we tried to learn some new tactics but filipino products specially the export side are being pirated in china. the export companies are having a hard time competing with china. they have cheap labor and cheap products.

The prices of commodities will also increase because of higher labor costs. It's not just businesses that will be affected, but again kita na naman kay taas presyo sang balaklon. Wala man gihapon pulos ang saka sweldo. The P125 wage hike will evaporate in inflation.

You really want us (minimum wage earners) to suffer forever ug dili nimo mi hatagan ug higayon to live a good life. This salary increase will be a big help. Lets not compare our country sa china because china has the biggest population in the world and they have lots of graduates. In our country, daghan man ang mga companies dire nga naga operate. Most chinese businessmen/women, they dont care for their employees at all. Because its been a chinese traditions to kill their workers while naga pabusog sila sa ilang mga ganansiya.

If Filipinos welcome more western investors (not chinese), we will be better off because western investors pay better than chinese. Im just glad that the hongkong people dont wanna be called chinese but hongkongeers! We should go more sa quality not quantity.
