Why should I? I wouldn't want to stoop to the level of people who make wild accusations without the slightest hint of evidence.

One should start thinking if these two guys are in government to serve or to make money or in government to make sure their source of wealth is protected.

government service. source of wealth. no wonder these two are trying to build dynasties prohibited by the constitution.

and anty dynasty bill cannot be passed in the first place. ang constitution man gani, dili respetohon aning duha.

gobyerno. negosyo. it rhymes man sad.

This bias against businessmen needs to stop. Just because businesses have a profit motive does not mean that this extends necessarily to public office once they are there. We as a nation have become overly cynical, to the point that we can't believe someone will not try to recover their money once they win. Can the same not be said about Aquino? Incidentally what was the reason precisely why Aquino denied playing of Hello Garci tapes at around the same time the government was negotiating SCLEX with Hacienda Luisita? I thought he is a principled man who is against corruption and cheating? Or is it only when he doesn't get anything out of it. Let's be careful kay naa raba tay tendency kitang mga pinoy nga masuyaon. As I said before "lagot lang sa corruption kay suya man".

Our country has never had a businessman become President, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have one. What is in the interest of business is in the interest of the country. The people need to get over this pro-poor bullshit. Pro-poor in our country is usually not really pro-poor but pro-laziness. No I am not saying that poor people are lazy, I am saying that the policies enacted by so-called "pro labor" politicians tend to encourage a culture of dependency and yes, laziness. Just look at the people who attend rallies for the purpose only of receiving money. This kind of mendicant parasitic behavior has permeated every corner of our society to the point that we have began equating businessmen with evil greedy people. Somehow rich is no longer something to aspire to, but something to despise. And poor is being held up as some kind of holy grail, a standard of humility and meekness that our people should aspire towards. No wonder most people in our country are poor. Poor folks have equated negosyante with corruption, and that's blatantly unfair. We businessmen keep this country afloat. The profit motive in business is not evidence of greed, it is evidence of vision, heart and leadership. That's one thing poor people need to understand. The really evil greed is that of the poor person who expects handouts for doing nothing, eg the mendicant mindset. Businessmen's greed on the other hand provides employment and revenue to the country...

Gobyerno. Negosyo. All I can say is why not? There needs to be more pro-business governance in this country, not more of the mendicant anti-business, anti-rich mindset of CRAB MENTALITY.

I have no problem with businessmen bringing their expertise to government, but history tells us that businessmen have always put their interests ahead.

thaksin? danding? and a host of other politicians in this country.

^^history tells us also that corruption exist even before. so meaning, walay chance nga ma solve ang corruption issue sa atong nasud. hahaiz...

and you have to study the hongkong, singaporean and scandinavian countries about their successful anti corruption programs.

just because it exists does not mean, we should tolerate it or even encourage it.

so what do you want pee wee, choose the corrupt as long as incompetent? naa diay na.

And this mendicant mentality, where the poor expect the politicians to dole out money is one of the things promoting corruption at the lowest rungs of the government ladder. Take the barangay councilors, for instance, who are asked to cover funeral or hospital expenses of every Juan and Juana who goes up to them. How much do these guys really make? Where's the money supposed to come from?

One time I was at the house of a local politician. A lady showed up unannounced and demanded, yes demanded, that she be given money for medicine because she was having the sh*ts. The worst part was she wouldn't take the anti-diarrhea medicine offered to her, she just wanted money.

Some people have taken this to a nearly professional level. They alternate begging doleouts from among different councilors and politicians. Mao na ang gi career nila. Dili na mangitag trabaho, mas sayon mangayog doleout. Kung dili gani hatagan, or dili makahatag ang politician, ang politician pa ang mugawas nga ngil-ad.

If anything, the poor has instead gained a sense of entitlement--we are poor and therefore the rich owe us. It is the politicians' duty to take care of our every need. Which means they are forever mired in the need to answer personal demands like burying a relative (who may or may not really have died) or curing the sh*ts.

The councilor who doesn't act like Santa Claus will have zero chance of winning in the next elections. So dawat na lang ug masiao or jueteng payola, or kumkumon ang barangay road project, just so he can support his constituents' addiction to mendicancy.

From the barangay level, this politics of patronage flows up to the municipal, city, provincial and national levels. And as it does, the amounts get bigger and more obscene.
