IT'S Complicated...
It means they're 'technically' still Involved with someone.

One of my guy friends has that status.
He is single. However, he and she still like each other.
But they probably won't ever get along together.
They love each other, but they know that it just couldn't happen bc of there differences.
It's complicated and they don't want to negate one another,
but they want to know what's out there.

Sometimes one member will want to "break up"
but the other one will beg against it and use "It's complicated."
