Will the Philippines ever be saved?

On madame president's way to the exit, she will leave us a Php290-billion budget deficit. Today, total external debt towers at Php1.93 trillion. Every man, woman, and kid here today is strapped with a debt of Php 47,968. Whoever will be the President this coming election will inherit three inevitables: DEATH, TAXES, and nearly 93.9 million Filipinos. So naa pa kahay pag-asa ang pinas?

Remember: things do not get better even if we get better leaders; things will only get better when we ourselves get better....

Istoryans here who constitute the "intellectual" few, what are your views? tnx....

Yes we still have a chance for progress if we do our share like paying our tax diligently (specially to some companies own by locals). Remove the CRAB mentality (daghan ni sa Manila) then punish those corrupt officials (basta naa proof nga nangawat like erap then mobarog jud ang mga witnesses dili parehas atong mga graduate sa Lacson school of witnesses, hehehe). Dako pa jud kaayo og chance ma reform ang Pilipinas kung molihok og motabang ang tanan.

Filipinos are reactive by nature. We are a people geared towards response on what is going on about us. Each of us are lousy pro-active citizens. Our idea of progress is for the country to provide everything for us. Our idea of corruption is that it is only corrupt if others are doing it, if its us, its practical. I fear massive blood should spill first before there will effective change in our country. Maybe by then, we can react to put our feet down and say "enough is enough." Change should indeed start from us. This idea is already very ancient and has gone obsolete for the new generation. Blood will be sacrificed for change to follow. Should go on election after election talking about change? Are we reduced to pathetic beings, wishful hopeful but blind arrogant and naive? Us Filipinos are reactive by nature. Our vision covers only what is being lighted before us. We give up our thinking to others that's why we keep on being fooled. Hope is something that amounts to nothing if it is only relied upon by itself. Good luck to us Filipinos.

i don't think that's even enough. Remember it's not only the corrupt officials who are making our lives hell. The ordinary citizens are themselves making others life miserable. From the smallest things, many of us contributed to the tarnished pride of our country. Filipinos are so fond to be acknowledge around the world. But the truth of the matter is, we have so little to be genuinely be proud of. Not because we have little to show, but we make ourselves little. We give more importance to things that are not important. We would rather be entertained than to help our neighbors, other communities and the visibly needy ones. We are a nation conditioned to be happy with dole outs. We would rather be pitied upon by others to generate sympathy. We don't give effort to things that can have strong impact for us as a nation. We are simply satisfied. Yet we blame our misfortunes on others. It's no use waking up anymore. For so long have we been awaken. Ninoy's blood should have awaken us already. Our modern heroes are slowly abandoning us. Where are we now, fellow countrymen? It's such a shame we have wasted the blood of a great leader. Filipinos maybe worth dying for but our heroes' blood are too much for a price. The ordinary Filipino doesn't even care. Pessimistic as it may seem, but this is the reality.
