Communist rebel killed, 2 militiamen hurt in clashes

A COMMUNIST rebel was killed while two militiamen were injured in separate encounters in the northern and southern Philippines over the weekend, police reports released Monday said.

At around 9 a.m. Saturday, troops from the 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company of the 30th Infantry Battalion under the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division encountered six New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Busukan village, Butuan City, reports said.

An NPA fighter was killed. There were no reported casualties on the government side. Troops recovered an M14 magazine and ammunition from the rebels, reports said.

On Sunday, at around 7 a.m., an undetermined number of NPA fighters attacked an Army militia detachment in Taga village, Pinukpuk town, Kalinga province, reports said.

Two militiamen, Pedro Salvador and Melecio Awlugan, were injured, reports said.

The 7,400-strong NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP). It has been waging a guerilla campaign in the countryside for nearly four decades.

The rebels pulled out of Norwegian-brokered peace talks in 2004 to protest their inclusion in the United States' and European Union's lists of terrorist organizations.

i cannot imagine how a person can be so proud to announce that another filipino has been killed by these bunch of terrorists who pretend that they are tagapagtanggol ng masa.Nakakahiya...No wonder their cause will never succeed.

Indeed, it's sick, demented reasoning that will glory in the loss of human lives.

But then it's no wonder, given the fact that they are even capable of killing their own comrades for their rotten cause.

They simply wants to gain support from us. I pity them actually and they are just a bunch of KSP group (NPA's).
