normally, ang mga masunog nga houses katong made of light materials and old old houses. So far, if cement inyo house (1st and second floor) rarely masunog. Plus ang gigamit namo nga wood sa wall is fire proof and chemicals treated. In case masunog man, we have fire extinguishers sa house (2 big fire extinguishers) and also sprinklers sa living area. Simple ra ang townhouse but we equiped it with safety gadgets. At least in 25 years we will own it. We can resell it. If renting, you will end up living on the streets if in the future you cannot pay the lessor anymore.

They have been renting for 20 years and you were saying nga dili sila magdugay

FYI, mostly mahitabo ang mga SUNOG sa esquatters areas, OLD HOUSES, OLD HOUSES, OLD APARTMENTS and OLD APARTMENTS. Very few sunog sa mga concrete houses unless gituyo pag sunog for insurance purposes. Even in CONDOMINIUMS, rarely mahitabo ang sunog because of the safety gadgets installed.

Ang risk man jud sa abang is electrical fault, karaan nga materials, zero maintenance and anytime the owner can increase the rent etc.

Although I am living in the townhouse, naa ko dignity that I own it. I have the title. Ang abang, resibo ra imo.

WE DONT KNOW WHEN IS OUR TIME- you are correct. But those things could have been avoided. Safety precautions is a must. Pag andam mo og mga safety gadget inyo place if your living in a house made of light materials or karaan nga house.

amusing kaayo from the posts nga ang gibasul sa sunog mao man ang mga biktima .. the local government should be faulted for this since wala siguro sila mag-check up sa maintenance sa building before sila mo hatag ug annual permit sa apartments (kay business man kaha ang pag pa rent ug apartment) .. another, ang tag-iya sa building nga wala mag huna huna ug pa check sa electrical installations sa mga apartments .. ang mga biktima mao ang naipit sa irresponsibilities of both parties, and they should not be blamed... there should even be compensation for that!

Pag-ibig has been assisting employees needing to have a house of their own .. I think it's about time we look to the possibilities of owning our homes, not just renting. ang problema lang kay layo ang mga housing nga dunay pag-ibig grants .. but in the long run, it is worth the travel time cause it is always our own property, and it brings dignity to us.

Honestly,,,,I dont know them, the one nga nasunogan, but I got 2 classmates in H.S nga cousins ,the regional director of DTI and another one already in US nga the same family name nila. They owned vast of lands in Bohol kay taga Bohol man sila. I will better check on this basin relative pud to nila.

The DTI classmate was assigned lang here in Cebu maong nag rent lang siya and of course not practical to invest sa house and lot kay iyang plano is to go back to Bohol when she retires already.

The other classmate works at Cebu Doctors Hosp.before w/ a daughter also enrolled at CDU, so they rented in an apartment just nearby her workplace and school in Capitol, area. When her immigrant visa was granted she went to US. leaving her daughter to finish her schooling, then 2 years ago nilarga napod iyang anak.

Basing on these 2separate situations that I mentioned,,,,dyo think it would be practical to buy a house here in Cebu? Granting that they can sell the property when they leave for US....dili baya ingon ana ka dali ug ka sayon mag baligya ug real estate property kay dili na ukay ukay?

What if nag waiting lang to sila sa petition from a US based sister or bro.,,,mao nga for the meantime nag rent sa to sila?

Yah, its nice jud to have our own house than mag rent lang. When I got married,31 yrs. ago we bought a very small house in a squatters area 65k lang, gi installment pa gyud for 1 yr.kay dili mi maka afford that time, its better to separate from our parents and start on our own diba?

It was just for a start, yon lang ang kaya namin noon.....we both worked hard ,all the tipids ginawa namin and were able to buy another property, this time not in a squatters area but a 1 bedroom low cost housing 600k, then nagka daghan among anak so we need a bigger one, we bought another house 3 bedrooms worth 2.5m gi utang for 5yrs.

Work and business is doing fine w/ us through God's guidance. When my 4 kids are already in college they need a room for their own and I need a big garden too, so we decided to buy another property that fits our needs and lifestyle.

Thanks God , my family and I are living now in a 20M property at the heart of Cebu City and already fully paid.

Yes, it’s a nice idea and move nga mo rent to own or like pay an installment for 20-25yrs. but how it was said …..blaming the victims really pissed me off , parang Bagyo!

Am sorry for this ha, but am just being honest in fairness to those VICTIMS and to the RENTERS too. Let us all exercise caution in our kind of words or expressions here because we really don’t know what’s in store for us in the future? Peace be with You!!!!

+1000 jud ka nako sis Snowfly kasabot jud ko sa imo gi ingon....

They have been renting for 20 years and you were saying nga dili sila magdugay
mag ask pud ko, when did pagibig offer those 'rent-to-own' houses sa atoa? ako kay bago2x rako kadungog ani kay kabasa ko ani sa istorya...

20 yrs na bitaw sila nag abang didto and they didn't find anything wrong with their apartment nga they have to move... as i've said kontinto sila sa ila kahimtang..

and sakto ka about safety precautions, ang landlord unta ga make sure nga they follow the SOP on that.. dili ang mga biktima.. ngano sad i-blame ang mga biktima uy? i don't get it... =/
