I once had my dog done on with caesarian, and I spent about P9,000 more or less. But in the US or Europe, most probably we will be spending half of what a Filipino human procedure will cost:
    Dog Caesarian (Philippines) - P9,000
    Dog Caesarian (US) - P30,000 to P60,000
    Human Caesarian (Philippines) - P60,000 to P100,000

Poor Pinoy vets. How can they enjoy a LAVISH LIFESTYLE if we don't even pay them what they deserve?
Contrary to what you are saying, we are UNKNOWINGLY taking advantage of our Filipino vets.
lolz... its like comparing apples with santol.
of course vets in the US earn more than
their counterparts in other parts of the world.
its the same with our nurses, low pay here, big bucks in the US.

when my pug underwent CS a little while back,
i bleed Php 16,000+ c/o my former vet clinic.
now, isnt that on the pricey side, if you compare with others?

thats what im trying to point out...
    some vets charge ridiculously more
than the others.... for the same services.

    No, I don't think so.

Comparing both our prices, we are still way beyond what a I think a practicing vet should get.
Though I got the upperhand, me spending P9,000, and you, P16,000, we still both have our dogs alive (yours maybe).

My vet operated with only with 1 assistant in a not-so-ambiant-friendly vet clinic. I don't know with you -- maybe he operated with a bevy of assistants plus high-tech equipments. Then you are paying deservedly for the cost he set up his clinic. Mine, I think the cost of the procedure is directly related to his establishment.

If I may explain, it is like I had my dog performed at Vicente Sotto (VSMC) and yours at Makati Medical Hospital. Does this make a point? Yes!

But how much? At a cost cheaper than a human doctor. They are performing the same procedure, and I guess a vet should at least cost almost or just as near as a medical practitioner.

And still we think we are being taken advantage of? Maybe the other way around. Just think and ponder ....

That's the problem with us Filipinos. We think that we are way down inferior to the Caucasians.
And that is what I am thinking. Because we think very low of ourselves, we think we also deserve a low pay.

Look at these foreigners, coming here in the Philippines and taking advantage of our cheap labor.
That is the same with you also ... TAKING ADVANTAGE of the CHEAP COSTS vet OFFERS.

So stop complaining if you bled P16,000 on your caesarian procedure. That is still cheaper than what an American vet will charge you.

So are you taking advantage now? LOL

LOL you got it all wrong dude.
and where in my posts dealt with inferiority of pinoys vs the whites?
its a fact that US standard of living is way way up there as compared to us pinoys.
it follows also that costs of supplies and services are pricier than here.
thats exactly why, practitioners/professionals there enjoys bigger pay than their counterparts all over the globe. thats not feeling inferior, its economics.

back to the topic... in philippine setting, some vets charge higher than some for the same services.
thats why this thread is asking - is your vet taking advantage of you?
if you feel not, well as i said, great for you.

thats precisely why the thread is in the "query mode"...
being taken advantage of is i guess subjective...
    some may be willing to pay ridiculous amount and not feeling a tinge of being shortchanged;
while others may feel its a hold-up in broad daylight...

ive been in several situation where i had to rush my dogs to vet clinics...
and during the check out time, god knows, im flabbergasted!
how in the hell my bills end up that skyrocketing!
and worse, you will get to hear other dog owners saying they paid a lot lesser
for the same procedure on another vet clinic...!
even prices of vits and meds.. some clinics sell theirs more than others.
im not complaining but just bringing to the table this reality. sigh.
i discovered this some months back, so i decided to jump vet...
to a vet much more reasonable, and ive discovered, more professional and experienced too!
