Why should I get the Nikon D90 instead of D5000?

Get the D90.

In body motor, maka auto-focus ka with almost all nikon lens.
LCD - bigger and better LCD, 920k 3" over 230k 2.7"
Top LCD - shows settings: aperture, shutter speed, iso, etc.
Controls - better controls. you don't have to press a lot of buttons when settings something.

If your budget allows,

go for the D90

- better low light performance
- CLS
- in-body motor
- etc.

or it permits, a D300S.

At the other side of the fence a Canon 450D or 7D.

But most importantly, enjoy your DSLR!

The D90 and D5000 are the same banana except that the D90 comes with built-in motor as Motownkid pointed out in his reply.

So, what does it mean? First, All Nikon lenses are compatible with Nikon camera bodies but some, mostly old ones e.g. 50mm, won't auto-focus because that one has no motor inside it.

If the 50mm is mounted on a camera without a motor e.g. D5000, D40, and D60, focusing had to be done manually by turning the focusing ring on the lens.

Kung wala pa budget karon, mas dako ang chance di na ka ganahan sa D90 ug mas maibog ka ug palit sa bag-ong release nga Nikon camera this year.
