I started off digital with a 2MP Kodak DC280.Â* What I did before was to place a small white cardboard in front of the flash to bounce it up.Â* You could also try a small mirror or foil.Â* Then later I bought an optical hotshoe slave...

...and placed it on a hotshoe flash.Â* I could hold the camera in one hand and the flash in the other and aim it at the ceiling or wall.

This only works though if your camera doesn't use a metering preflash... or if you can turn that option off.

guys, i think he was asking about the flash that's built in the camera. but i guess the white card bounce could work.

Hi, I used my Cannon A620 for this. Everything was on auto.

pretty good. too much foreground for me though. I would tilted up a bit more til the lower line of plants leveled off at the bottom of the frame. it would bring more of the treetops into the picture.

but if someone was standing in the grassy area then the composition would have been okay.

petey78: the foliage below distracts me and tends to take out the beauty of the waterfalls. Try what abortretry said or go closer.

XPNoob: your pic is a bit underexposed for my taste. details disappear into the darkness.
