It's not so bad, it's even quite enjoyable. I do this a lot, carry all my camp and hike gears in my pack and my photog gears in a small backpack..

3-6pax would do, this small group would be great... Lessens the impact on the environment, as well as maximizing the trip IT (logistics and all)
