The Philippine National Red Cross Youth(RCY) in coordination with the PNRC National Blood Service(NBS) will have its Pledge 25 this Feb. 14,2010
Venue: Park Mall
Time: 11am - 4pm
"Pledge 25" -Philippine National Red Cross - Red Cross Youth
The concept...
"Pledge 25" is a Philippine National Red Cross Youth Department project which was set up in support of the drive to recruit more voluntary blood donors.
The initiative involves young blood donors who will pledge to regularly donate blood 3 to 4 times a year, from the age of 18 until they reach 25 years old. After this period, they will join other blood donors' groups such as the 'Blood Galloners' Club' of the National Blood Services and continue regular blood donation.
The objectives...
- To organise a youth group who will work to encourage regular blood donors among the youth sector;
- To create a group of young blood donor recruiters
- To promote the participation of women in voluntary blood donation; and
- To instil into both young and old alike, the value of saving others' lives by voluntary blood donation.
As a guide, to be a blood donor, you should meet the following requirements:
- be in good health
- generally weigh more than 50kg
- be aged between 16 to 65 years (need parent's consent under 18
- meet all the guidelines designed to protect both the person giving the blood and the person who may receive the blood
The average blood donation consists of about 450 to 470 ml of blood, which represents about eight per cent of the blood volume of an average adult. The body replaces this naturally, a process which is helped by drinking extra water-based fluids.
Often, people are concerned about giving blood the first time, but staff at local blood centres can provide further information when you visit. Many donors enjoy the personal satisfaction of saving someone's life in such a simple way, and the contact with other like-minded citizens, and make the effort to attend their blood centre every few months.
We would to thank Park Mall for the venue
