BTW i never took the board exam
again...daghan jud ECE na wala jud nagpractice as electronics engineer. mapunta rajud sa IT.

boibulag is right. it's better to get certifications from Cisco, Avaya, Wintel... etc. mas naa pana gamit kaysa phil. ece license.

Know the technology, know the products, get certified. daog na. Mga engineers nagtrabaho are usually called systems engineers.. not necessarily electronics engineers.

bro,gi-comment ra ako saimo gipost before nga wala ka kadungog na ECE nga nag-abroad sa telecoms where infact daghan man nag-abroad nuon sa telecoms..and yes, dili na kinahanglan license nato diri kay wala may ECE sa uban countries.diri raman tawn ni nauso ECE sa pinas .. bisan asa ug unsa man imo apply, pangutan-on man gyud imo experience di ba? bisan unsa pa na nga course.. but then again, mobalik ko title kini nga thread " Where do ECE graduates go after they graduate?"..ako sa telecoms,in and out (local and abroad depende sa maangayan ug sa offer)..

EcE has a great potential diria sa pilipinas.. wala lang klaro or maybe wala lang power ang ato prof. group. (IECEP).. why? look at PICE, kita ba ka og naghimo building nga dili licensed ang ni-pirma sa plans? how about sa PSME? every power plant here has one.. apil na ang EE.. All of these Engineering professions were protected by their respective orgs..

Now, look at our IECEP.. Kahibalo ba mo nga naa tay balaod nga if ang Computer Installations/Network set up Plans is worth 100K above, it needs an ECE signature? Naa bay EcE didtoa sa ilaha during construction? Wala! I'm sure daghan wala nakabalo ani mga laws even among us EcEs.. I know nga petty ra kaau ni nga projects compared sa dagko kaayo nga sweldo sa gawas pero ang issue man jud diri kay unsay gamit sa mga ECE after sila mo-gradweyt.. At least man lang ma-secure sad ato field oi..

) didtoa kay ang IEEE..of which Electronics Engineers are a significant part..

Dako jud dapat role ang i-play sa IECEP.. sayang lang ang ato renewal/registration fee if dili nila ma-protect and secure ang future sa atoa field..

bro, i begged to disagree on this..daghan nagwork sa telecoms sa manila or even sa local areas nato (VisMin), mga freshgrads man gani and wala gyud tawn nahibaw-an..ayha pa lang magsugod, ang uban gani himuon pa training ground pagwork sa telcos diri (Smart, Globe and Sun Cellular).. and by the way, wat u mean certified professionals (sa telecoms)? say for example hanas naka sa 3G technology, syempre kay hanas manka kabisado na gyud nimo how the system works, so certified naka ana dayon? kinsa man pud mo-certify nimo ana daw? curious lang ko bro..

but you're right..naa mga fresh grads kuhaon sa mga telecoms.. ang nakasakit kay they don't look at the course ad the license.. why? because they will only need 1 person (licensed PEcE) to sign all the plans as required by law.. while the new hirees will only be on maintenance duty (so no need for the signing part)..

Bottomline, ECEs in the Phils go to all sorts of jobs (just like what's happening in other professions).

Most of the ECE graduates don't really practice as electronics engineers. Some are lucky enough to work for manufacturing companies as design engineers, technical staff or are involved in electronics research and development. Most of them who can't get into manufacturing firms end up in ICT industry.

You rarely (if not at all) get to use AC analysis when working in telecoms. You only need to know the equipment they're using, the different switches and technologies. You don't need to be an electronics engineer to be able to work in telecoms outside the Philippines. When you go abroad, if you have Cisco, Avaya, WinTel, etc.. certifications, you have a higher change of getting a job in telecom industries than when you only have your ECE license. I think the only reason ECEs get hired by telecom in the Philippines is because ECEs are supposed to be experts in telecommunications. Skills in electronics are then forgotten in time.

And yes, IECEP is a crap. The only reason I paid for membership (huge amount since I had to pay for previous years) is because an IECEP certificate was required to be able to convert my ECE license to Electronics Engineer.

We have the most difficult board exam in the field of engineering kay grabe ka broad. Kita ra pud ang pinakakulilat in terms of job oppurtunities sa Pinas.
