These SuperTaks by the way are made of metal mostly. I think my 28mm is heavier than the 450D

This is what it looks like:

nice pictures bro and the lens is very nostalgic shall i say...so this mean that old pentax asahi lenses are compatible with Canon EOS series cam? very interesting

@uzumaki: Thank you. The two SuperTaks I have are older than me In fact, I don't have any auto focus lenses left. I'll eventually buy an AF zoom but for now, I like the discipline of using MF lenses. I think any lens would be compatible with any modern camera as long as the right adapter is used.

I joined this forum to know more about manual focus lenses: Manual Focus Lenses :: Index

I'm eyeing the Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon MC 35mm f/2.4 next. The little bugger is hard to find.

this photo illustrates wonderfully the distinct focal plane of this lens the foreground blur stops at the certain space and background blur starts behind the subject...

@edwin: I didn't know about that until I read your post. I bought this because I like its natural IQ (color-wise). The color of the images you see are what your eyes see. I did get a Helios 44-2 (it's probably in the post office by now pero dugay lang ihatud notice) that is an artistic lens because of its swirling background blur and oversaturation. The Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon or its derivate MIR-1B serves a similar function as an artistic lens. Murag painting and photos at low apertures.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a MF only lens photowalk and then we have t-shirts that say, "Auto focus are for sissies"? (Credit: Aris). Of course, we shouldn't wear the t-shirts when there are AF users kay basin makulata ta. Ha ha ha.

MF lenses indeed are great... i fully agree, pero murag dili kaayo ko agree nga AF are for sissies hehehe... i still rely on my AF lenses when i need to snap pictures of my running kids and for fast events. I keep both MF & AF lenses. Although im leaning towards a collection of great manual lenses and limit my AF to a few commonly used zooms ... i'm saving for a CV nokton 35/1.4 to replace my leica 35/2.8 (planning to sell it) and CV nokton 50/1.1

mang gawas nya ta with other guys who are into MF lenses

@edwin: (OT) Just joking I just bought a Canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 yesterday (because I'm so darn cheap and didn't want to spend on a 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS). I'm thinking of getting a 10-22 next although I'm still doubting how often I'd use UWA lenses plus for almost the same amount, a better investment would be a 17-40 L just in case I go FF in the far future. I'm going to rent an UWA from Needs and Solutions before I do get an UWA just to see if I like it (Needs & Solutions Rentals - Lenses).

Olala, a f/1.1. The DOF must be razor thin but perfect for candle lit scenes. I'd love to see your photos taken at f/1.1.

Sure, I look forward to a MF only lens only photo session. Sports? Ha ha ha. So far there are only two of us. How many Istoryan Photographers do you know use MF lenses on their digital cameras?

the only thing I envy in Nikon dSLRs is that they are backwards
compatible with the old nikkor manual focus lenses
