i grew up with dogs literally...

but i never got attached to them...

we have dogs so that they can guard the house..

most of them are askals...ehehe...no breed at all...

the first dog i got attached to...is my dax...we got him last 2007...

    he's a mixed breed..i don't know of what..hehe..

this is him on his first day at my house:

    this is him at present:

this dog has given me a lot of headaches..and a lot of fun times too..

he's one concerned dog..he knows when my mom or me is not feeling well...he even listens to my dad when he calls on the fone and talks to him...he's like a human being..only he can't speak..he just barks...

he is my mom's life saver too...more than once he alerted me that my mom is already having hypertension..

    he's turning 3 this august...he's suppose to be a lapdog..but then..he got big...hehehe

then we have another doggie..her name is dixie...

    this is her:

    she's the joker.

these doggies wreak havoc in our house...

    but we don't mind..

    these doggies are our happiness...

and even when we are stressed and angry...

these doggies can take it away with just a bark

these two are the first pair of dogs that got really close to us

@the Goods: im sorry about borgs.. he was indeed a good looking dog.. but i think it would be nice to open you heart again to another dog.. here's a saying from an unknown author: "there are things we don't want to happen but have to accept; things we dont want to know but have to learn; and those we cant live without but have to let go."

    @xinevirtucio: very cute dogs!!

Wow, great post! I'm so happy that you found happiness through one of the simplest things in life, being unconditionally loved by your dog! My wife used to dislike and fear dogs, just like your family, until she finally let me talk her into letting me get a Doberman puppy for protection after our apartment was robbed last August and there were two or three (gang-related) killings in our neighborhood shortly after that. Now, she and our dog are practically inseparable. She even talked me into agreeing to get a second puppy so the first one would have a playmate. The dogs even sleep on our bed: we may need to get a bigger one when they get full grown.

I had a black lab when I was a boy. She was the best dog ever! Friendly, well-behaved, loving. I've always liked labs ever since. They're just not very good protection dogs though: they're too friendly with everybody.

Dogs are easier to train when they're still puppies but contrary to the old saying, you certainly can teach an old dog new tricks (and anyway, Juggy's still not very old). It's too bad that you just sent him away to a trainer, and that the trainer didn't teach you how to train Juggy yourself. It's still not too late for you to learn, either. If I may, I'd like to recommend the FAQs and How-Tos on the DogForum.org website: Dog Frequently Asked Questions - DogForum.org | Dog Forums and Community . This is a great starting point for teaching Juggy simple things like sitting or lying down and staying when told to, automatically sitting and waiting when someone comes to the door or when you go to feed him, not jumping on people, not play-biting, etc.

Also I recommend the books by the monks of New Skete Monastery in New York State, USA. They're Orthodox Christian monks (and nuns- they have a convent too) that raise German shepherds. Two books of theirs I particularly recommend, if you can find them: The Art of Raising a Puppy and How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend. The first one is in the Mandaue City Library: that's where I first found out about the monks, from looking at their book there. Many of the things they teach in that book can also be applied to older dogs. I like the monks better than professional trainers like Cesar Milan (although he's good too) because they raise and train dogs out of pure love, not also to try to become rich and famous. You may also be able to get Cesar's DVDs from K9 Kare Dog Sport for not too much money- see their ads for puppy training classes in the classified ads on Istorya for their cell phone numbers. You might even ask them if they offer any training for older dogs- they don't charge a ton of money and sir Jute and sir Ryan are very good with dogs and with people. They only use positive reinforcement, giving praise and treats when the dog obeys and just turning their backs and ignoring them when they act up, so the dog doesn't get the attention he craves until he behaves again. (I'm not affiliated with K9 Kare. I'm just a satisfied customer of theirs, and now consider Jute and Ryan to be friends.)

I'm happy that you have Juggy to love and to be loved by, but I'm also sad that he's not very well behaved and is reinforcing your family's poor opinion of dogs. He really needs you to take control over him in order to be as happy as he can be and to ease the friction between you (and Juggy) and the rest of your family. Basically you need to learn a little bit of dog psychology: how dogs think, then learn how to become Joggy's pack leader. It would be ideal if you could get the rest of your family on board to help a bit too, so that Juggy also sees them as higher up in the pack hierarchy than he is. (To dogs, the other dogs and the people they live with are all part of a pack, similar to wolves.)

Good luck with Juggy and God bless.

    Jay

@jay: Thank you so much for the advices..yes im still in the process of working things out with juggy and my family..its not as bad as you think it is..slowly things are turning out well for all of us.. juggy's is much more controlable compared to his puppy days..
by the way, i met sir jute and ryan in K9 care in one of the dog shows (i think it was in Paref), no offense, but they were not very accomodating to my questions..probably they werejust busy or something. i was really intersted in enrolling juggy in their agility course. anyway, dont worry i did not sent juggy to the trainer..he personally comes to our house and teaches me how to handle my dog..and solve his barking problems..so far i saw improvement in juggy..

...and yes your very right on the part that i need to know more about dog psychology...im slowly learning about it and how to be the alpha dog..and not become my dog's follower. im reading books about dogs an constantly surf the net about it. thank you so much for your advices and i hope we get to exchange more infos about dogs and stuff...
