    Q1:

if its a complete stripe then you wont encounter any problems

    Q2:
Its just recommemded you atleast get similar speeds and capacity,i cant confirm this yet as i havent made any mirroring yet.

    Q3:

Yes its perfectly fine todo that how ever make sure you change move your swapfile on your SCSI drive for better over all performance.

Correction diay, you can only mirror a harddrive if the source drives are on the same host controller, meaning SATA to SATA or SCSI to SCSI or PATA to PATA. dli diay pwede mag crossing ana

EDIT: update on Q2, yes you can use a different brand/speed, but its better to use a similar capacity para all data can be back-up just install the drive on the same host controller and you can start backing things up

    1: of course same controller.
2: i've done mirroring and usually same capacity. never tried different brands & speed though.

back to my Q1 lang, i guess you might have misunderstood me a bit but i want to attach a striped disk to another machine. one of the stripe disk lang to another machine. what will happen?
    thanks!

you cant have the contents read if missing ang pikas pair sa stripe, paris gyud na sila since the other half of every single file sa imong drive kay naa sa pikas. Mirroring on a different brand and speed will also work, but if your using a drive considerably slower than the master drives the system will try to compensate by storing the data on the Host controllers ram or system ram.. if dli na gyud maapas then the computer slows down the mirror target para ma write pa ang data

I totally agree EarlZ. I tried last Saturday using Knoppix and Win2K server. It cannot read. But the partition is displayed...So if naay naay trouble with the striped drives, how can I recover it? Naay software for that?

    Thanks!

yes there are lots of softwares to rebuild a broken array, just google for it and read reviews on which software is the best, pero it cant fully reconstruct everything but maka recover ka mostly sa imong data atleast its not a total loss
