@manny ...this is my problem with the Catholic faith bro...the fact that it is very sure that only Christians will be saved and the others only have a chance...i can not reconcile this with the wisdom and compassion of God

also i have a question...in your post above you mentioned there are bibles with 72 books and others only have 66. Can you please tell me which 6 books are missing on the other version? thanks.

Why not? I think you have a wrong idea of salvation.

What does it mean when you are saved and go to heaven? It means you will be in the presence of the God YOU love, and you will do nothing else but worship Him for eternity.

Now, why should someone who does not love God, refuses to believe in Him, ignores Him, or even defies Him, be forced to be with God and worship Him for eternity? There wouldn't be any love. It's like forcing someone who does not love you to marry you!

So there is nothing wrong with the Christian position. You just have to understand exactly what is being talked about here.

@manny...i understand your explanation...but if you grew up in the Middle East where all the people around you are practicing Islam...or if you are Japanese ....or Tibetan.....you have heard of Christianity but you grew up with a different "faith".....so of course you have another "version" of God so to speak....it does not mean that you refused to believe or ignored him...there were and still are multiple proclamations of good news....multiple ways of understanding Jesus....so I think it is not right for the Catholic Church to assume only Christians will be saved.

I believe everybody has equal opportunity....depending on their understanding on how to seek the kingdom of God.

You have WRONG idea of Catholic doctrine. That's why I posted the excerpt from the Catechism. Please read it again. The Church does NOT assume ONLY Christians will be saved. As I said, non-Christians have a chance too. What more do you want? A guarantee? There's none.

@manny...i assure you i understand perfectly what we are discussing here...

I understood from the excerpt you posted that not only Christians can be saved but others MAY also be saved. - and that is my beef. I can not accept that. I believe everybody has equal chance.

And you have also already explained your reason why it should be so. So we are now in the never ending circle as usual.

Anyway...I do not need proof or evidence...nor do i want to argue with you. We already both said our pieces...so let's leave it at that.

Did you see my question about the bible books? 66 instead of 72? I asked which 6 books are not in the other version. I am more interested with the answer to that so I will be better informed. Thanks.

As God is an omniscient (all knowing) God, we cannot say that its only this denomination or this race will be saved, for our knowledge is only limitied.

I know Catholics who love to go to Mass in the day of obligation.... they also like saying the litanies, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month 365. 4 days a year...

But these people seem to encourage being biased towards other religious groups, bias towards those who only have the intellect to beg due to poverty, bias towards those of the "fallen gender", and also discriminating people who fall short of good deeds and may have maligned them in a way or two...... They also never acknowledge guilt and for them, those who do wrong are the only ones who are wrong and mistaken, and they are ALWAYS RIGHT....

It must be something about the litanies that restrains them from manifesting genuine blessedness, instead they appear hypocritical, predjudiced and self-righteous.
