Uhmmm just to share some insights.. I think that it would be nice to make a tablet version of mac air rather than this ipad.. If ipad would just be as gud as an ereader.. Why not make mac air with a reversible screen like tablets and turn it into an ebook reader just like ipad.. And beter yet they could make it play vidz so that its just like watching movies while in starbucks as if u are reading a newspaper.. Hehe

Whoever said that didn't work for Apple. He/she was not privy to the final state of the product.

The following is the best comment I've read about the "love / hate" situation going on about the new iPad, it's from a CNN article:

When it launches, the iPad's initial target audience is iPhone and iPod touch users. Why? Because they are already very comfortable with the way you need to interact with this device. The moment I picked up the iPad today I knew exactly what to do with it. ... Meanwhile, I watched some other people who said they didn't use an iPhone regularly interact with the iPad for the first time and it was not nearly as seamless.

i think pc tablets are way much better than this... but because of the marketing of apple... this would still get prefered. especially for mac fanboys and fangirls...

That's the PHILPPINE scenario, kay part na siya sa colonial mentality.

In developed countries, most people who buy Apple products are categorized as early-adopters of technology. If you make a sociological survey of the demographics of this sector of modern (i.e. developed) society, early-adopters are usually composed of intelligent people who tend have a broader perspective about products and innovations, and sometimes, this sector actually dictates the design of such products, because they are the ones who are active in blogging or in drafting consumer reports and reviews. They essentially "sketch the way" for device designers the reasons why a product is needed (or equally, why a product needs to be improved, changed etc.), because the rest of the masses do not regularly engage in design theory or functionality assessment say, over dinner or a cup of tea.

These early-adopters are not necessarily "dato" or "gapa-brandish-brandish" sa ilang gadgets, because the economic tier differences in their country aren't that drastic--a business tycoon (who's an early-adopter of technology) ordering dinner at a restaurant in Los Angeles cannot "brandish" his or her iPhone as some sort of status symbol, because the waiter or the grad student in the corner table might have one as well.

That's quite a nice perspective you've got of people who buy apple in developed countries Rodsky.

That's exactly how I perceived them when I started working as a tech support years ago. After a couple of months though, you'd get to know better. People buy Apple products because of their "perceived" ease of use. Isn't that what Apple keeps drilling regarding their Macs vs PCs? With this, you know who buys them most (or at least the calls we get from Mac users)? The oldies and the "technically challenged". Early-adapters? I strongly doubt of technology? I beg to differ.

Also, some of them do think they are better off others because they have a "Mac". You'll hear lines like, "I'm not on a regular computer..." etc.
