Thumbsucking is a cycle that every baby goes thru. If you try to stop it, it may create problems in speech, self confidence etc. Let the child fulfill this stage and it will go away on its own. Based na sa akong nabasahan, ug experience.
My eldest, a boy, does not suck his thumb because he's used to a pacifier.. He was on a pacifier for two years and that's it. We never really had to resort to something like butangan ug halang, sili and the like. Ni undang ra cya ug iya. I observed nga di naman cya tig pacifier, so ako nalang gihipos.. wa ra sad siya nangita.
Now my 5 month old daughter is thumb/finger sucking and she doesn't like pacifiers, maybe because she's used to mommy's breast feeding and does not like to suck on silicon.. hehe.. we let her suck her thumb and fingers as long as she wants. I hope it will stop in time just like his big bro
