nobody teaches you to become an athiest, and you dont need to be baptized as an athiest to be one, its your decision to be an athiest..

in essence athiesm is another form of faith like christianity and islam but in form it lacks certain requirement, like a centralized belief system and it has no scriptures (except there is no "god" part but even such statement has many forms)..

athiesm should be honored as a faith.. athiests should not be prosecuted.. the word here is respect for each others interpretation of life and existance..

my bad, xenxa sa ako pag compose sa ako post hehehe.. basta mao ni ako idea bout that..
    That's okay.

So you define atheism as a belief, a belief that there is no such thing as a "God", right? Why do you believe so?

I guess this thread will die quickly because our athiest friends are too shy to share to the world the good things they experienced being an athiest. Did the belief made you more mature? made you wealthy, made you more tolerant, made you more intelligent, made you more caring and loving, etc. How did it change your life?

It might be helpful if we post again the main questions of the thread (as far as I understood it):

    1. Why do you think atheism (if one defines it as the view that there is no such thing as a "God") is true? (Or, what are your reasons for thinking that God does not exist?)
    2. What are some of the benefits of holding the atheist view?
    3. How has it changed your life?

That is what confuses me, when the topic of religion is discussed they are quick to tell those of religion about their benefits. I was hoping to start a thread where they could express there best attributes. There has be a lot of exchanges but no testimonies or open discussions. There are members who are really courious and really want to understand and discuss their beliefs from those of so many different beliefs.

I will try my best to keep others respectful of their post, and you know the Mods are watching this thread with interest. If only one or two Atheist would give it an honest effort, this could be an outstanding thread. All other threads have only resulted in bickering, bad feelings, insults and closures. I am wondering if they do not really want their beliefs to read and understood, and that is a shame. Perhaps they believe it is a trick thread, or an ambush; but I would try my best to keep it credible. I would expect the Mods would control any bantering or insults. They have no part in an educational thread. If this thread fails then everyone loses, because it shows that members can not discuss this topic as civilized educated intellects. I am disappointed as much or more than you and other members that nobody wishes to step to the table with good attentions and in good faith and even try.

Is arguments and insults all we have in the end? I truly hope not.

I will be more than happy to do this for you.

From the First Post of the Thread:
This is an opportunity for Atheist to put their best foot forward and present Atheism in the best light. Christians and believers need to be respectful and stick only to facts, as you would want Atheist to treat your belief.

Simple ethics rules to consider to keep this thread "Fair and Balanced":
    1. Present facts and links (so others can research) when ever possible.
    2. All points of views are to be respected (all members view points are important).
    3. No name calling, insults, or flaming.
    4. Always be respectful with other members (no "right or wrongs" - Education is the purpose).
    5. Tell the truth and from the heart.
    6. Bible verses and other religious text can be used by Atheist, non believers, Christians, and believers of other religions (BUT NO PREACHING ALLOWED). This applies to me the TS as well.

I will always try to be as fair and balanced as possible.

I hope the Atheist on this forum can use this thread to present their beliefs in a constructive format. That Atheist, Christians, and those of other religions can have an organized Q&A exchange of ideas. Everyone should be able to get along in an adult dialog.

I ask this with the utmost respect: How did the concept (or idea) of Atheism change your life?

    Primary Question:
How did the concept (or idea) of Atheism change your life?

Minor questions: (only to establish topics to be equally discussed with all faiths and beliefs.)
    a. I being a Christian I want to know, why I should leave my faith?
    b. As an Atheist what benefits from your belief, should make a Christian leave their faith?
    c. Using facts and reason, can an intelligent dialog be established?

(These 3 Minor Questions were only meant as suggestions of topics to stimulate interest and conversation.)

    ^ Thanks, sir.

Yes, those are the same questions I listed above. So basically one of the most important questions here really is, what reasons can be given for the atheist view? Why think atheism is true?

I thought it would be a fair and balance question. And this is my reasoning:

Members of religion believe that their God is real and active in their lives. Atheist often reply that our God or God's are only man made conceptual myths that are doggedly held by those of weak or closed minds.
So what about Atheism are verifiable truths that is strong enough, for the weak and closed minded members to leave their religions and beliefs, for this Greater Atheistic Enlightenment of these professed greater minds? In short, What makes them smart and us stupid? What makes them right and us wrong?

Primitive sheep herders wrote our so called stolen myths and flawed text with quill and parchments. Surely superior Intellectuals can discuss their beliefs with the aid of computers, the internet sources, and cut and paste.

I am only asking as weak closed minded stupid myth following bible hugging "balimbing".

^ In other words the question is, "Why should I, a Christian, believe in atheism? Why I should become an atheist?"

They should "speak now or forever hold their peace."
